God people really let their feeling be shown on this thread and being a fan. Just booked a trip for the Cubbies and Rockies in June. Those with hometown teams where you can go whenever you want is great.
White Sox, tomorrow is betting day. Every game with them is like for each hundred one bets it is plus 150 at least. But at least one can get a ticket there having been there. Cubs, all corporate bought.

That is amusing. Braves draftee from last year who was hurt going to Japan for awhile for millions. Even from Greedy Bastards like the agent Boras can come some good things.
http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/26797380/pitcher-skips-mlb-draft-japan-deal
Say it is the wave of the future. Become a free agent in the MLB at 25 and make millions in Japan. Not bad for the cheap teams.

At Sox games you have your choice of 30,000 tickets each game. They rebuilt the stadium in the ghetto in order to get huge state grants. If they built it in the suburbs they would be drawing equal to the Cubs.

Depressing. Sometimes it is good to laugh.
Ozzie Guillen had some great quotes though before they fired him. Still cracks me up they got one before the cubbies. People were so disappointed in the city. Seriously, it is like two cities in one by the size of it. And income levels as I wanted to rent a studio on the North Side but, yeah, no.

I went to High School with a kid who did a better Harry Carey impersonation than any celebrity. Carey was actually a lot funnier when he was the Sox announcer because there was no effort to control his drinking. By the 7th inning he was wasted. And his broadcast partner was Jimmy Piersall who had been in a mental institution for a while. There was a movie made about Piersall called Fear Strikes Out. He was played by Anthony Perkins, the guy from Psycho, but Perkins couldn't throw a baseball, so that was funny. Piersall was a great fielder, and he was an outfielder's coach fairly recently.
I haven't actually lived in Chicago since I was 4 years old. The parking situation is ridiculous.

I just read an interesting story about Chris Sale. After a terrible April and a decent May he is lights out in June and just became the second pitcher in history to strike out the side with nine pitches twice in a season in baseball history. It was first done by Lefty Grove. The only other pitchers to do it twice in a career were Sandy Koufax, Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson and Max Scherzer.

Sale is one like seeing Madison Bumgarner or Max. God he has strange eyes but like one commenter or writer said, if you don't like pitching/baseball watch a game pitched by him.
That stat by Sale doesn't surprise me. Just didn't know it was more rare then perfect games in MLB history.
"The Condor" from his pitching style. I love his fuck you attitude. When on the other Sox when they wanted him to wear the 70's leisure suit type uniform with the massive collars he took scissors in the club house and shredded it which made me laugh.
I forgot Harry Caray (born Harry Christopher Carabina) think he made a good choice in changing his last name, announced for the White Sox.
Before my time. Nickel beer night would of been amazing, as well as bring your disco records and blow them up inbetween the double header promotion, I remembered it wrong but watched it again, and they thought they could get the other game in with him trying to calm the South Side crowd down.
Didn't work. But that is a hell of a promotion. Chicago White Sox disco demolition night, lol. That shit cracks me up. I would slide into second base as well just to do it on a major league field as a fan. Different times. Twilight double header, how drunk these people would be by that time. I'd be down there.
Beats the dollar dogs promotion night I went to yesterday. Still had a good time though, secret is smuggling things through security. Not paying 9.00 for 20 oz. of shit beer.

Toronto got pretty crazy after that ump made that call in the playoffs where one could actually sense the danger for the players. And people say Canadians are nice people. They are but sports and competition does strange things to people. Was interesting to watch live though on T.V. and see what would happen.
God I love sports and for a lot more reasons then for things like this but it is just an interesting part of it. I played it, I watch and follow it, it is just fun most of the time.

Wow. Not a College baseball fan but just reading and some college kid from Vandy threw a no-hitter and struck out 19 against the Dukies and the ping bats of aluminum. Impressive in the CWS. God I am ready for my vacation. I don't even get on the internet when I take them.

This season is going exactly as planned. MLB is very predictable. Just felt great being in a great seat and being up close to the players and game.
Atlanta is fine but some shine brighter then others and Atlanta is DEFINITELY not a baseball town.
Fucking Cubs fans basically pillaged downtown Denver. Nearly filling up the stadium with Rockies fans in Denver and all beer aisles were basically empty around town and tickets were quite expensive. Was amusing talking to some locals about it, they came and pillaged. Amused me.
I didn't see a MLB game last year and I forgot why I love it so much. NFL and NBA is so different but I enjoy them as well. Just like the pastime better. God that was fun, like a fucking whirlwind.

Is it stealing to bet against the Rockies every time they play against the Dodgers in L.A.? I get the 200 million plus payroll but still. Is like death and taxes and every year, the Rockies endlessly lose in L.A. and L.A. has to go back to Gibson against the A's and that series of when they last won a fucking championship.
Thinking of Eck and that series, when was the last time the A's won one? Glad to hear they are building a new stadium in Oakland especially since the Warriors are leaving Oracle to San Francisco and of course the Raiders to Vegas.
Still the Oakland Alameda is still the shittiest baseball stadium I have ever been to and I have been to the Vet for a Phillies game way back when with turf like concrete. Have to say though, that game against the Astros was the most boring game I have ever watched in my lifetime.
Shit, just in a shitty mood. I hate the strike, the chance the Expos had to win the title that year, people throwing coins onto the field, and now all the major markets winning everything and no parity unless you get a fluke like the Royals for one year. Kaufman isn't a bad place to see a game, liked it. Chief fans and the city I like the vibe, a sports town. Fuck L.A. End of rant.

Really? Then I shouldn't post half-assed without doing my research. Usually it seems really empty from highlights but you would know.
Have to research more before I post to fans that actually live in the cities I post about with sports. I like the Braves, grew up with WGN (Cubs/White Sox) and TBS, Braves of course so have some good memories of them and glad that I am wrong. Seriously, I got back from Denver not long ago and I love sports fans. Especially baseball and football fans.
Meant no disrespect by it. Journalism and college, I know better then to post stupid shit from the past before posting. Thanks for waking me up a bit. Patience.
Soon things will start to get interesting after the all-star break with many teams. That game in London with Yanks/BoSox was a joke. As a betting man going with the Yankees at this point even with Stanton injured. D.J. is tearing it up which sucks. Like when the Cubs lost Greg to the Braves. But comparing him to a HOF pitcher is a joke. I went on a run in Vegas and the only game I lost was when he was pitching at Wrigley and the odds were so good I took the money line for the opponent and lost 1-0. Won 8-9 and spent it on a Hunter S. Thompson type drug collection, seriously, but my dad was still pissed that I lost it though he was so inane he would bet on his favorite teams in preseason and wonder why he lost.
The Yankees have always been good at having players healthy when the playoffs come. And I will be rooting against them all the way. Two teams I have never lost on in a game bet is the Yankees and Red Sox. I respect them but don't like them and the Red Sox turned into them, the evil empire of 200 million plus payrolls so fuck the BoSox.
Anyone but those two or the Dodgers though I kind of feel sorry for them. And watching a youtube video on the Tigers when they lost to a 83-79 Cards team long ago 4-1 in the W.S. and seeing how shitty Detroit, the actual city is, I feel bad for them. And Texas just a little bit. Like anyone cares. I write on here like I am at a sports bar and chatting it up with fans.
