Transdermal Magnesium Supplementation - Is anyone here doing the Magnesium Oil thing? 2

A tub of pharma grade Magnesium chloride arrived at chez Asante.
Pharma MgCl2 + demineralized water + scales + cooking pot --> Magnesium Oil
Anyone into transdermal application of Magnesium chloride?
80% of people have a magnesium deficiency.
Magnesium deficiency is a big thing.
Apparently, transdermal magnesium oil has great advantages that occur by swimming in the ocean (or bathing in epsom salt + rock salt waters such as with particularly healthy bath bombs or in isolation tanks.)
Magnesium affects the body and mind.

I noticed that since I started going to flotation tank semi regularly like once a month, what I considered to be homeostasis (my overall body/mind/perception of life) seems to be improving.
I contribute that to getting magnesium on the regular now

Magnesium interestingly has NMDA Antagonist effects, in other words its a subtle dissociative, ketaminelike, so the outcome of the floatation session is influenced quite favorably by the presence of magnesium and chloride ions in the floating water.
The meditation of floating improves homeostasis too of course, but a regular magnesium supplement also helps balancing things.
Interestingly here a quote from a 1951 pharmacopeia:
Quote:
if 1gr/kg of MgCl2.6H2O is administered rectally in 25% solution it can cause a long lasting general numbness of the body.
I definitely would NOT do that as that might cause magnesium intoxication, but it does point to the fact that higher amounts of magnesium mag give dissociative effects.
Its an electrolyte though, don't do crazy stuff with this knowledge.

Making a bottle of "magnesium oil":
Magnesium chloride hexahydrate.......30gr Distilled water................................30ml [shake] MAGNESIUM OIL...............50ml
Presto.
Dose 10-20 drops daily, apply to skin, rinse off after 15min.

😂🤣 I ain't sticking any magnesium up there!!
lol interesting about the nmda receptor activation tho, and after thinking about it that way, whenever I've been in a tank session where I've had a particularity strong experience, kinda feels like a low dose ketamine. a good sensory deprivation tank session does give a psychedelic experience with visions.

Why are you experimenting with this exactly? It seems a bit extreme.
I admit, after reading up, that I definitely didn't understand how magnesium reserves work in the body. I wouldn't dick around with high doses of this stuff though, particularly without getting some lab work done while you're doing it. Otherwise you might end up with Manganism, which would suck. You should be able to safely get decent intake of Mg by eating nuts (https://www.cedars-sinai.edu/Patients/Programs-and-Services/Documents/CP0403MagnesiumRichFoods.pdf).
I'm going to continue to read up on magnesium deficiency, and I think I found a good paper to start with if anybody else is interested:

Wow. According to that article psychotic behavior, aggression and anxiety could indicate a magnesium deficiency.

I take an oral Magnesium maleate/Magnesium Bioglycinate at night, and take about 1.25 tsp of Magnesium citrate in the form of Calm™ in my morning protein shake. It keeps me regular and that optimal elimination is also a boon for body and mind. Too much citrate form will clean you out. That is what is often used to that end before a colonoscopy.

I take magnesium salt baths. Its relaxing, and makes muscle soreness go away. Peanut butter with 100% peanuts has 15% DRV per serving, but Ive only seen it listed once

I take an organic Mg salt (brand name Magtein) and it really helps my neuropathy pain. One of the key things is to make sure you balance with some Calcium. Mg + Ca in a reasonable balance is more important than either alone. I just take half a TUMS for a bit extra Ca.
This link has some pretty good references to studies (as well as some that look a bit dodgy but the concept is correct...) https://drsircus.com/cardiovascular/calcium-magnesium-balance/
