Field Mushrooms...
    #2589349 - 04/22/04 01:22 AM (12 years, 7 months ago)

Can anyone tell me if your standard giant field mushroom can be grown by a relative newbie...? (and if so, would anyone like to trade for a culture or a print?)

They would be considered an exotic over here... about 10 varieties of mushrooms are commonly grown and eaten, but I've never seen a field mushroom here.

Do you know it by any other name that we might recognize?

Agaricus campestris look pretty much like I remember them in Australia...

In GGMM, Stamets lists Agaricus campestris as a "meadow mushroom."

He states that it may be grown using current methods but says nothing further about it.

With 10 popular candidate varieties  to begin you mycological career perhaps it can wait a bit?
