Anyone using hardwood fuel pellets should stock up now. They will be virtually impossible to get very soon. I wish I would have been told this last year.

What do you mean? Did something happen or is it just because it’s seasonal?

Yeah they're seasonal. People generally use them to heat their homes.

They are seasonal. Sorry I should have said that in my OP.

hit up a carpenter place near you, and ask if they use untreated wood. if they do they usually throw out all the sawdust/wood shavings into a big ass dumpster like thing they have emptied once a week, they will let you take home bags of it for free most likey, as they pay to have it disposed of.

hwfp may be out of season but outdoor grilling is in, good time of year for getting smoking pellets. their a little more expensive but you have a lot of choices in wood types and the aspen i usually get breaks down way quicker than fuel pellets

A little more expensive? Try 4 times more expensive.

I've always had good luck ordering online from evil walmart, they are usually available year round, though the price isn't great.

All 3 of their products seem to be doug fir. Isnt this considered softwood?
Do you get their sierra, cascade, or olympus pellets?
Thanks.

Sorry I really didn't look into what they had. I would not try to grow on douglas fir.

Im pretty sure out of softwoods douglas fir is one of the better ones. Try using the search. Did a quick check ,evidently commercial growers even use it.

I only did a quick search but what I found is you can grow on DF but with reduced yields. I'm not really sure I am able to get all the oak pellets I want. I guess if that is all that is available I would give it a shot.

Yeah I did look it up, and in an old thread RR said he used to use it and it works but with slightly lesser results. Just curious what you guys thought. I'll probably buy a few bags anyways. I can't even get hardwood pellets up here unless I buy Traeger pellets but they're ridiculously expensive. I called about 10 stores/shops last winter. Hardwood pellets just aren't a thing here in the inland northwest.
