    #25893061 -

I been wanting to learn how to macrame jewelry and other things like a water bottle holder. Does anyone here possess this skill? If anyone can share what they know about this I would appreciate it

When I was younger, I took an interest in knot tying those kinds of bracelets and stuff. I am actually wearing a "zipper sinnet" bracelet out of some camouflage paracord right now that I've had for a couple of years.

This channel is going to be a really big help for you if you desire to pursue this

I've got a book I inherited called "The Ashley Book of Knots" that is absolutely staggering in the amount of information it has about knot tying. Its big as a text book and 600+ pages. The chapter I found about Macrame says that "Square Knotting is supposed to have originated in Arabia, where it was called Macrame which means in Arabic, fringe...Only two elementary knots are essential. These are the Half Knot (called the Macrame Knot) and the half hitch (called the tatting knot). Various combinations of these two, in varying numbers are termed bars."

That second photo of yours is a bracelet made of just a corkscrew bar, literally a half hitch tied over and over, which makes it helix downward, and a solomon bar in between the beads, which is left and right half knots.

You could probably find all this info online, but it's really cool having the book to look at and reference too. Theres a lot of just generally practical stuff in it too, like tying down loads and hauling things, etc. You should look into finding a copy.

Macrame, or square knotting, gives me a fucking headache. That tedious repetitive knot tying drives me batty.
The end result is cool, but I dont have the gumption to pursue it much. I'd have to be pretty damn bored, as I'm sure the sailors were who learned it and brought it to the americas, and literally covered their boats in it, with table cloths and hand rails and shit.

Have fun with it.

I used to macramé many years ago.  Probably about 40 years ago at this point.  I don't remember much except that it was gay as fuck.

One more friendship bracelet and it would’ve been all over for you

Sorta like shrooms but macrame. I don’t think it’s gay and I’m trying to get into it. I’m gonna get some jute chord too and try something.

I need a water bottle holder. I saw one once but haven’t seen one since.
