How do *you* introduce friends and family to the Psychedelic Experience? * 2
    #25892381 -

We all know the situation, despirte our discretion a friend or relative caught wind of your psychedelic explorations, and surprisingly they show interest to have the Experience themselves.

How do *you* prepare them for it, whom do you filter out, what would you consider an appropriate dose and how would you go about the session?

Tripping is a life choice. How do you help people in "getting there" safe and sound?

Do you actively "turn on" like Leary or the Pranksters, or keep it on the down low as muych as you can?

How do you deal with the responsibility of being Gatekeeper to the Psychedelic Realm?

I just bring up my experiences if it's on topic. If they seem interested I might give them a handful of mushrooms or dose of L. Sometimes at a festival or party I will give random drugs to random people if I have extra and they seem cool.

I wouldn't dose someone that was annoying, sketchy, or seemed like they had a mental health problem. Of course if they just broke up with their GF or something I wouldn't do that either.

Low to medium dose and tell them you can take more, but not less.

I'm now a middle aged man with a family so it's rare that I turn anyone on these days.

Sounds very sensible.

Yes, absolutely screen out the people you feel shouldnt trip, or whom you dont want to trip with. Its your responsibility so at your discretion.

I didnt personally psychedelically turn on as many people as I wanted to. Indirectly, through the Shroomery, I may have influenced God knows how many with the 100 novels worth of posts I have written here since 2002.

My current best friend I psychedelically turned on in the 1990s.  2C-B + N2O, the Nitrous finally blew open his doors of perception and when he had his emotional outpour over it (tears of joy) I solemnly said in the darkness: "Welcome to the Psychedelic Experience!" He never forgot that, me neither, it was epic.

I used to talk about psychs to anyone with the ear to listen. The last year or so however, I've laid off bringing it up unless expressly asked.

I guess I've come to realise that the willing come upon revelation in their own right and don't need 'conversion', so to speak. Same with meditation and other esoteric knowledge/practices. It usually just puts people off imo.
Sounds too strange to the uninitiated.

But if I'm asked and I see that the person is ready for it I'll help them with anything they need and inform them as best I can. I don't see myself as a gatekeeper, more of a threshold guardian in the sense of the monomyth.
Like the sphinx in front of the pyramid or the gargoyle on the parpets of the temple, anyone can pass through, but those with the right eyes see it for what it really is and then enter the temple ready to be transformed. Not that I'm special or some shit, I've just been reading Joseph Campbell recently...

Right dose, I'd say about 2gs dried is a fairly solid noob friendly dose. I prefer not to have anything to do with ceremonies and such. I'll trip sit if necessary, but I honestly think that those truly ready can do it alone.

someone that is a 55-60% water being not drinking the best water (steam distilled) and is basically dying should not consume any amount of any entheogen, as it can be dangerous to their psyche, they need to consume half their body weight in ounces daily to even get ready to prep for an entheogenic experience, when i go out i hold ceremonies live at nearby bars and places where people just poison themselves, I can manipulate their reality into an acid trip at will, but again I have been practicing ayurvedic shamanism for over 7 years, you can take my advice for what its worth, but if you want to get into the field of ayurvedic medicine, you need to start with your self first...

My personal policy is iron-clad.  I will neither assist, nor hinder.  I will give absolutely NO affirmative assistance whatsoever.  I will not give, sell or in any way provide a friend or family member with any psychoactive compound or its precursor.  Any discussions (or even mention) of my personal experience with psychedelics is ALWAYS "hpothetically speaking" and attributed to a long-ago time in my life, NOT the present.  Even my signature line disavows the contents of my posts as false.

This policy insures I will continue to enjoy my freedom, keep my job and my professional reputation, and makes me COMPLETELY IMMUNE from an angry, scorned, unhappy or vindictive family member, former friend or lover - and keeps me 100% safe from any type of blackmail if the relationship sours for some non-drug related reason. As many here are aware, EVEN MY OWN WIFE has absolutely no idea I use psychedelics.

To adopt any other policy seems to me to be utterly foolish - as has been proven time and again. Folks from the Shroomery have gone to jail, had to burn their stash, lost their home/place of abode and all manner of other woes.  If you've been a member of this board for any length of time, you've read the horror stories right here on the Shroomery.  I prefer to learn from OTHER people's mistakes as well as my own...and that is a principle lesson which has been taught to me RIGHT HERE.

If someone in my social or family group wants to experiment with psychedelics, they will find a way with ZERO assistance from me.  "Where there is a will, there is a way."

Dude your wife doesn't know ? Damn that's crazy. No judgement. Just so hard to fathom.

Never had family besides my sister and dad who were already into/open to it

My dad is basically an old dead head hippie

Almost all generalizations apply to him

If anyone I trust is open to it I would explain it a bit. Like a crash course (if they're new), give them advice/recommendations, then let them decide.

Correct. She has no knowledge. She tends to drink too much wine when out in public with her gal-pals and she gets WAY too gabby. I don't need her telling people my business. Worse yet, you never know who you are standing next to in a bar, at a restaurant or at a party, so to insure the topic can never come up, she knows NOTHING.

It's like the old joke. Two people can keep a secret...if one of them is dead.

my wife does not like to trip any more, but she knows I do. Others seldom know. people rarely talk about it. but when they do I participate in the discussion with interest usually.

I like to ease into it slowly, as it is still illegal and controversial. Theres a lot of judgement towards psychedelic use especially for work. I guess I would be in the down-low crowd for work reasons.

If I lived in a country where job careers and psychedelic drug use could exist with no issues, then I would definitely be out in the open about psychedelic use.

you dont need entheogens to save a life, just will power, and the knowledge about the truth about water.

False dichotomy.  There are no real "gatekeepers".

People come to you with interest, you give them what you can.  But it's always going to be their experience.
