Right on. I believe, in the summer, solar could be an option. But most off grid people note that, in the north, solar does not hold up after summer.

But fersure a woodstove continually heating an attached greenhouse by the Thermosiphon effect may open a window to the solar alternative on those clear winter days.

I first moved to the woods with a big McCullough chainsaw. I now prefer electric chainsaws that will run on my little generator. I have a $50 8 amp Worx that I regularly use on trees up to 14" at the base.
An electric chainsaw sharpener is a must, You can carry it in the truck and use it whenever. Today I cut a 12" sycamore and sharpened the chain during lunch. I also use it to knock down the kick-back humps a little that are right in front of the teeth on the chain; when these are knocked down the chain really bites and, yeah, it kicks. I have the cheep $30 Harbor freight kind. I like it.
You have to be prepared for a "bound" chain when the log pinches the bar and you can't get the chainsaw out, It's frustrating and you have to lever the log to open the kerf to get the chain loose.

A 3000 watt generator could operate 3 saws and leave the afternoons for family fishing. Four inch rounds are all you need if you can get them, when you split a 12" round you don't get much more than 4 four inch rounds anyway.

I personally would add the wim hof method to the list, so that you can stay outside all night and endure the cold with no problems. Thanks to the help of a fully functional endocrine system. This is something that all WARM BLOODED mammals can do within their natural cold hardiness range you might say.
Apparently we all think we’re cold blooded and/or originate from tropical regions where the night time cold temps are easily endured. I think not, it’s actually been proven to be false imo

First thing I'm building is a pole barn.
Then cabin, then sauna, and outhouse
Then small lean-tos for storing wood.
Then cabin 2

Good thing you didn't choose the teepee option; here's a tale of Misery in Montana

XUL. I did this!!!
1 full year off the grid. Below freezing indoors with a wood stove at times. Collected our water, no power, only hand tools.
Such an incredible experience. Honestly changed my life.
What drove me out there?? Literally getting sick and tired of paying rent!

The wood stove was great. But it took time to really start radiating heat. Then it takes constant maintenance.
So if it went out at night, or while I was away, then the process starts from square one again.
To conserve wood, I tried to mainly use it when I felt it was "necessary", but not really for comfort.
Gear is everything off grid

In that part of Maine the dirt is beautiful, but the bedrock is also not far down. So composting all of our waste to make soil was super important too

Probably depends on your genetics. Some people do descend from tropical people's. Some people have lived in Florida all their lives. These things do effect your resilience to cold.
It is in many parts mental though. When I was in ROTC our sergeant would tell us the story of a man who froze to death after being locked in a refrigerated truck.
Only the cooling system was broken and it was never below 45 degrees. Chilly but survivable. At least for 10 hours it is.
That story usually coincided with the mantra "it's mind over matter, you don't mind, it don't matter." Only you know sometimes it does.
