So I’m new to mushroom cultivating, I’ve recently started cultivating actives but now I find myself interested in cultivating gourmet and medicinals as well. Just curious, what are some good mushroom spores to buy to get started and why? I’m already considering oysters and lions mane. Are there any others that may be as easy to cultivate?

I started with phoenix oyster because it grows quickly and can withstand a wide temperature range. King oyster is really picky and will only grow if you can cause the planets to align for it :hehehe:. Lionsmane is another good one to start with. Be warned! Its gonna fruit before the bag looks fully colonized. Dont be surprised if you see it trying to escape its container

I agree just about any oyster is a good starter mushroom and Phoenix oysters are a particularly good one.

I'm surprised to see so many people here have issues with king oysters. Im trying them out for the first time and all my blocks pinned in the bag within a week or two of fully colonizing. Maybe I just got lucky though.
