When to birth after Hyphal Knots form in BRF Jars?
    #25888856 -

I’ve been searching all over and cannot find an answer. This is my first grow attempted and everything has  been going great. Today I noticed hyphal knots forming in a few of my jars. I inoculated on 03/01. My question is when do I birth them? Now that i see hyphal knots do I birth them now or do I wait a few more days? An answer ASAP would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, you can birth (dunk/roll) now (unless of course it's not fully colonised due to some contamination and knotting up just on the part that's colonised; then you're probably done).

Basically, the rule is: you want to see the jars entirely colonised and then give a bit to consolidate. Then, birth as it suits your schedule.

So 2mrrw will make 3wks. Normally they are ready around 4wks.

Basically you wait until the jar is fully colonized then add a week, like homie said. I dnt remember seeing knots in my cakes. I wouldnt go by that as a judge of much with cakes.

:whathesaid:

If you see knots and it's not contaminated it's ready to fruit.

Here is what the jars with the tiny little knots look like. Kind of hard to see sorry.

Yeah, you're not going to be able to birth that now; it'll just fall apart in your hands when you smack it out of the jar.

As for the diagnosis, you're right; it's a little hard to see, but I think you must be talking about the little balls in the centre left area of the jar. And, yes, they do look like knots. That premature development together with the fact that some of the rhizos are reaching out pretty far ahead of the rest of the myc makes me think there might be some bacteria in there. But that's not a def. Give a bit more time and see how it goes. There's no obvious red flag here yet.

Patience my friend. Birth a week after full colonisation. Always.

Thank you so much, and a lot of the dry verm layer kinda fell along the sides of the jar I believe that’s why it looks like it would crumble in my hands. How long should I wait?

You should wait until its fully colonized before you even think about birthing them:thumbup:

Welcome. And I understand. That does happen. But it's more than just that in this case.

:whathesaid: Sometimes it takes a while.

Listen, I know you want to get your colour on, but just be patient. It feels like it takes forever in the beginning, but before you know it, you'll have way more fruits than you know what to do with.
