there are many factors that can effect that. it will depend on the species you are growing out in the LC, the nutrient content of the water, the temp its kept at. is this  MS to LC or a wedge, ( hopefully Wedge) I have had LC  ready at 5 days, i have also let it grow out for weeks.  its going to keep growing as long as there is a food source left in the  liquid. if you are using this on  grains then  you only want to use a little bit so you don't throw off your moisture content. wait at least a week, swirl it every day or if you have a stir plate leave it on there with a slow stir  for a week. it should be usable by a week.  but  you also should test it out on agar before using it for grain or substrate.

@sinhtnguyen110489- Do you now....what species do you grow in that?


@rams- You don't need to add anything to a GLC. Less is more with LC in my experience. I personally like to let my them grow pretty thick, but I'm using 16 or 18g needles. Smaller needles are a huge pain to suck up thick LC.

wonder if all mushrooms have different kinda mycelium in liquid. i have seen in other people's post that the LC has cloudy and thready growth  (my Reishi has similar)



however my Tarragon oyster LC seems to ave different mycelium. its like small round clots wonder if its the desired mycelium or some competitive mycelium which has taken over.

Kind of. I've had cube LC where some look more stringy and some are more chunky or fluffy. Contam mycelium can look just like what you are trying to grow too. A lot of times if you let the LC go for awhile, you will see white myc on the surface. Let it go undisturbed for a couple days after that, and green molds will produce spores and let you know to toss it. Another giveaway is if its growing too fast. The LC I've had go green usually seem to colonize the whole jar in 2-3 days vs a week or so at least for most of the mushrooms I've grown.

so here is Liquid media made from XLMEA and DH2O inoculated one month ago with agar wedge



here's boiled wheat grain water and tap water media. inoculated with LC (thanks to Ino) syringes some 5 days ago..
