Spraying Cactus with insecticide?

Hey all,

I have 10 cacti and there doing fine, but one of my fig trees (where my cacti are very close to) is starting to get armoured scale. I am going to spray it with eco oil or something (anyone got any good recommendations, something organic)

as a precaution I think I might also spray the cacti. does anyone know if its alright to spray cactuses with insecticides? I really don't want them to get the scale because i read that the scale love juicy succulents like cacti.

I got scale on mine once, pain in the ass.

Organic insecticides like neem, or the neem extract Azadirachtin work on scale.

I'd personally treat the fig with imidacloprid. It's a neonicotinoid, yeah, but figs donìt make exposed flowers with pollen and are not pollenated by bees; at most you'll be killing a dozen of wasps.
Anyways if you're not confortable with these chemicals use the organic pesticide by any means, but act fast!

Why spend more money on two pesticides if he's already going to get the az or neem?

They all work.

I think you can just remove them with an alcohol swab but either way the point is to diligently keep removing any new young ones until their reproduction cycle is completely broken.

Insecticidal diy soap could always help esp for eggs and younglings. Not sure if the heavier stuff is appropriate here but idk.

Any new insecticide i may get in the future may be spinosad. That stuff sounds great.

    I have come up with a plan of attack. First i'm gonna scrub the cacti with a soft toothbrush (possibly with alchohol), then i'm going to spray the cacti, my fig, and some other succulents I have that are near the area with a mix of: 5ml eco-neem (azamax), 5ml rosemary oil, and 5ml eco oil (I've send a question to the manufacturers if I can combine the eco-neem and eco-oil) in 1L of water. I'm going to spray once a week for a month, periodically scrubbing the cacti. Then After 2 or 3 weeks, i'm going to release some predatory bugs such as ladybirds and i'm going to temporarily enclose the area for a few weeks so they can get fully established, and won't fly away. then hopefully I can forget about it.
