Do you colonise and then add casing?

I've finally found what has been for me the elusive wide headed jar. I checked all of the jarred pickles/sun dried tomatoes/every jar I could find in Asda/Sainsburys/aldi, I even tried Yorkshire Trading and Home Bargains. I tried TK Maxx and eventually found a pint+ sized one for £2.99, but it was too big/expensive, and as is the true unfettered and everlasting nature of TK Maxx, I could only find one of what I wanted and it was the wrong size.
Anyway, literally the last thing i checked were the jam jars in Aldi... result! It was only at this point that I remembered people in this thread saying jam jars were pretty much a dead cert.
Here are the 84 pence beauties in all their glory:

It reminded me of lib hunting. You check every single 'prime' location in each field then suddenly stumble upon the joy on the way out as you're about to give up. The only difference being, we're likely to have lots of jam jars in the UK this autumn.
Aldi also have huge bags of vermiculite and perlite on offer this week: £3.49 for 10 litres.
My pressure cooker is on the way from ebay in Canada; huge thanks to the people who explained that you can pay your customs duties up front on ebay, it made things so simple. I went for the 23 quart presto otherwise I knew I'd regret not getting what is seemingly the gold standard in PC's.
A bit of advise for anybody in my situation and buying the 23 quart presto from ebay, is to check the feedback of the seller on neutral/negative and try to figure out whether or not they're simply a drop shipper. There were a lot of vendor reviews I had to trawl though in which people criticising vendors for long delivery times and cancellations, or products coming from walmart. I eventually found one with gleaming reviews and sent them a PM asking if they had one in stock, which they did, and they responded straight away then posted the next working day with tracking.
Anyway, here is what I have so far in terms of supplies: 23 quart presto pressure cooker Jars Spores (cubensis and cyans) Vermiculite Perlite
Does anybody know where you can get woodchips which would be cyanescen friendly? I'm unsure what to look for, or where would be best. Also, where do people tend to get their agar?
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to getting involved and interacting with you all in this thread, and eventually giving back to the community through spores.
Cheers.

The wood chips I got for my azure bed. I also got some wood pellet, which was kindly provided by a power station. I can't remember which one but they won't miss a 100l of it anyway.

Cheers for the tip.
Would wood chips like this suffice - the kind that are kind of more long cuttings than the cube type that you linked? My thinking is simply that it looks a bit more decorative for an outdoors type thing.

I think that's more bark, which isn't as suitable so I've heard. also, I'm not sure what the colouring is, doesn't sound ideal. best bet is find a tree surgeon round your way and ask if you can get some hardwood chips off of them. you might have to meet them at a job with a bucket or two

It'll been pine or fir in them chips. They don't work too well for woodlovers plus they have some antifungal properties.

If you see some guys cutting down a tree and have a wood chipper ask them if you can fill a few black bin liners full.

Howdy fellow UKers bit of a noob here and just found this thread. Wondering what yous all do for rye grain don't like the look of wbs alternative.
Also instead of Lysol? Some say oust but all I can see is the 'odour eliminator' spray don't know if this will kill the airbornes?
Same with Dettol spray it's really more for surfaces right? Trying to set up a SAB.

I used to use detol but don't bother now, I just used soapy water in a mister I can't say I'm mega successful though, but most people will tell you it's not necessary
for rye, try health food shops. then once you're hooked, find someone who sells it in the sackload

I use just any ole poundshop smelly room spray, works a treat. Favourite for rye is dove's farm organic. £30 ish for 25kg delivered. Really nice clean stuff.

Soapy water is all you should use for SAB walls. Oats are my favourite take around 30 mins from sack to in the jars in the pc.
