I've heard stories of that happening. Usually due to misting from too close. Apparently you have to be paranoid about that when the case is pinning.

I had a similar problem with the humidity being too high, causing aborts,so i switched from perlite to geolite and ae a bubbler and nevr had that problem again.Humidity stays at around 90% now all the time.

Butternut squash are softer than acorn or other types of squash, which makes them easier to cut and prepare.

Many things could be causing this.

Is your humidity right?
How about CO2 ventilation, fanning more can help this, or an airpump ($10) with
some vent holes near the bottom ot the terrarium.
Are they getting at least some light?

Practice makes perfect, and there's plenty of help here.

I experienced the same problem on my bulk grow. I tried adjusting lighting, and humidity, but finally I discovered that it has a lot to do with air exchange (I wasn't fanning enough per day). Increase your daily fanning while keeping your humidity at least above 85%, and you should see improvement.
