i'm ordering a tonne of seeds for my garden this year (tomatoes, chard, etc.) and wanted to get some poppies as well. i know they are having to be of the papaver somniferum variety, but i wonder if any PS will do. in particular, i am looking at a "mixed carnation" variety of papaver somniferum. should i get these (they look to have kinda small pods) conveniently with my garden seeds, or place a seperate order on a poppy specialty site? i would kind of rather just get them along with my garden seeds. here is a picture of the kind i'm looking at.

Peonies are known to be lower in alkaloid content, but it depends on the var... they are pretty potent and most make up for it by being large and having multiple pods. I have many peony, single, double, and ruffled strains. I have nearly every commercial available strain. If you are interested in a trade... PM me.

peonies have a great flower production and not too bad of a potency. they pump out a good amount of pods per plant. one really good thing about them is that they don't look like your typical poppy so it has a better chance of going unnoticed. but if exceptional potency is your concern then there are some better strains out there like......persians, hen's and chicks (i highly reccomend this strain! definately a personal fav of mine.), gigantium, and tasmanian (there are many more but these ar some of my favorites....especially hens & chicks). shriek had a pretty good list. but all in all, peonies are a good strain to go with...they tent to grow a little faster (in my experience anyway) and they have a very good flower production.

The most bang for your buck are the Tasmanians. They are the most potent.
