looks leucoagaricus leucothites. although i don't like to mess with white mushrooms unless certain. which im fairly certain but do not encourage you to eat it without heavy research. veil shows the brown dots, ring around stem forget its name where gills are not attached similar to pluteus species. even pleurotus (ha) porrigens is white.

looks leucoagaricus leucothites unless the spore print is brown. Although edible, I wouldn’t recommend due to possible confusion with Amanita virosa (Destroying Angel).

wasnt virosa i was worried about. there's mushrooms outside my range of knowledge and i did find some with unknown edibility, and without certainty could be something extremely random with not much research, hell you can't even really get much info on leucoagaricus species that are edible let alone a certain id or info on something random. and in many cases i find its not even worth looking at spores when i was looking at things same exact description of spores as if microscopy is useless in general... like on agaricus... unless it's oysters or something with dramatic size differences and they try to speak another language completely unrequired while describing spores and features, i guess some went to mycology school to learn another form of englsh so they flaunt it.

It is Leucoagaricus without a doubt, now which species exactly, I'm not sure as I don't know what grows in SA.
I ate two or three leucoagaricus species, they aren't worth the risk of confusing them with Amanitas. Really some of the worst tasting mushrooms I've ever tried. Even P. cubensis tastes less horrible once you compare it to some Leucoagaricus.

heard similar on bernardi and a few others being poor but i highly disagree and the way you cook it matters. also what its grown on matters as oysters ive done on one substrate tastes like eating wood while off another tastes like a mushroom.

leucothites is worldwide, americanus isnt white and where the name signifies others i dont think theres much info on if i remember right or how many there were.

Definitely, I agree with everything you said. Also, individual taste matters, for example, to me, the absolute worst, awfull, disgusting smelling and tasting mushroom is black truflle. I wouldn't eat that if they paid me, let alone pay hundreds of $ for that utter sh*t.

I don't think it would be noticed with an edit however Bernardi the one that's claimed a subpar mushroom....

Agaricus Bernardi > Bisporous, biiiiiiiiig time.

Bitorquis I need to get my hands on. Bernardis close twin.

I got a big smile on my face when I read the cubensis comparison, I can't imagine anything being worse than that, just the thought made me cringe.

No kidding my leuco taste test was very pleasant cube taste turns my stomache to the point that anything that reminds me of it became unnacceptable for a long time, and i wasnt interested in edibles due to this for a long time. the portabello reminds me if it a bit due to its strong mushroom flavor and i dont care for them much and they were one of the only mushrooms i knew of that were edible. might be more tolerable since ive been eating lots of good mushrooms lately but actives turned my taste and interest off mushrooms at the time.

were talking a chew and spit leuco test so pleasant i really didnt want to turn them down while not k owing what they were but they were white. smell was extremely pleasant too if i remember right.
