Gonna run a grass seed invitro I’ve done a few times before then I’m gonna try sum on sugar cane and as with everything else see if I can’t get a tray canopy in the Jartha. It will be a slow process but at least with these I know a working tek (albeit not super impressive yields in the invitro bags (q dry if I’m lucky) I do love the response I get from doing it tho lol. For a split second I get just a tiny taste of how David Blane must feel all day every day lol

I'm curious about this as well, my spores never germinated so I gotta start my libs over but my idea was agar to grains and then grains to a little tray full of growing grass since libs feed off of dying grass roots perhaps its beneficial to fruiting or perhaps its the microbes in the soil

Need to follow this thread guys for all info on libs (once I obtain some spores). They're supposed to be native here but I never found one.

Here's the beginning off the first flush, but they seem like dwarves.

I don't think it's a lack of FAE since my SGFC had a lot of holes.

I'll wait to see the second flush.

Interesting update on the  Neoxpensis. All 6 pasteurized trays contaminated (all 3 recipes) however all 6 sterilized bags look healthy and almost ready to fruit

So I’m running a few different case recipes for zaps (mostly Loam soil) I see a few recipes with worm castings in the case. What would the benefit of this be?

I think the idea is that cordisporae grows out of forest dirt so maybe worm casting make sense for them.

Personally, I try to never make a nutritious casing for many reasons. The biggest being that these exotics grow so slowly that having any nutrition in the casing is just asking for mold problems.

But hey, try it out. That's the beauty of top fruiting half pint jars! You can have 10 tests in one small space, sharing the same growing conditions.

My condolences on your neos :frown: They fought the good fight.

I can see that. Misting with the fulvic acid solution def seems to be keeping contams at bay I’m still very surprised my first zap tray is hold strong I def expected it to fail. I’ve put work castings in pan casing before (made no difference) but pans move really fast also

I don't think they are dwarf genetics, per se. For me, whenever I cultivate subtropicales in my SGFC they are short and stubby but with decent conformation, similar to the results you have here. When I put them in a monotub they stretch high looking for that oxygen.  My SGFC holds 90%+ RH for about 2" above the perlite, but higher than that and the air is dry. Almost all fruit in it turn out stubby. SGFC was meant to have PF cakes in it to help hold the moisture in, without them it can be a bit of a wash.

For example:
*these are both from the same culture*
Subtropicales from my SGFC

These are growing out of a half pint jar and stopped growing after about 2".

Subtropicales from my monotubs

These easily grow 4+ inches but also exibit much more "fuzzy feet" than the SGFC fruit.

I'd say try the same culture in a few different styles of FC to find the results you are looking for

These look fantastic!!! I finally got sum subtrop on agar and should be receiving hoog acutely umbonate any day!! The pans have spoiled me a bit in how fast they move a lot of these exotic’s (except neoxpensis) are much slower. I feel like I’ve been working with zaps forever now and I still only have one tray in FC (my least likely to succeed also although I’m pleased with its ability to remain contam free! (Coming up on 4 weeks In FC)

I feel you on that

The only way I could pump the brakes on my excitement for zaps was to start other projects in the mean time. But now i'm constantly short on space, plates and jars

Thank you Mycorry !

Here are some questions :
  • How to harvest them : Twist and pull Vs Cutting ?
  • Apart from the fact that they grow higher (so better yield) in monotubs, is there any quality difference ?
  • Do you see any improvements I can do to my SGFC ? (I'm yet to have the approval of a Martha/Greenhouse from my girlfriend  )
  • I'm leaving out of the country for multiple weeks : I know it's a bad practice but how would you automate the misting process ? I'm hesitating between an ultrasonic mister with tubing or a MistKing system I could easily connect to my 2 SGFC and 2 monotubs.
  • How would you describe the difference between the subtropicales and other great species (Pan Cyan, Woodlovers, etc.) ? I mostly do introspective trip (alone in the dark with music), but I tried them (0.6 + 0.4g) for the first time yesterday in a sunny park and I had an epiphany to say the least. I never used LSD, but from what I read it would be a perfect mix between LSD, MDMA and mushroom (!)

Cased neoxpensis tonight. I will give it a few days before I place in FC. Very pleasant smell also similar to mexicana but also distinctly different.

-How to harvest them : Twist and pull Vs Cutting ?
I prefer pulling because of how many flushes these will produce. I tried cutting them early on but 2 flushes later and the stumps are rotting and attracting gnats. Pulling does damage the casing but you can patch it after the next dunk. I harvest when the cap is tightly curled, the feet of the stem are brown and the gills are starting to brown, like a few in your first pic. HOWEVER, I haven't tested harvesting timing enough to know an optimum time frame.

-Apart from the fact that they grow higher (so better yield) in monotubs, is there any quality difference ?
All I can say is that the fruit from the monotub are going to be bigger, therefore more fruit. The monotub fruit do tend to have fuzzy feet more but that doesn't really matter. I found that the monotub frutit were much easier to print.

-Do you see any improvements I can do to my SGFC ?
Try burying your trays like these

Maybe having them start their cycle closer to the perlite will give them more "headroom" of humidity to use. I've also tried stacking up the perlite on the edges of the SGFC which you can see in the pic. It helped a little.

-I'm leaving out of the country for multiple weeks : I know it's a bad practice but how would you automate the misting process ? I'm hesitating between an ultrasonic mister with tubing or a MistKing system I could easily connect to my 2 SGFC and 2 monotubs.
Without a GH you are out of luck. Unless you are in a very humid area and have a big monotub already dialed in. A monotub with a fogger on a cycle could work for a short while but its gonna be a bit of a crapshoot.

-How would you describe the difference between the subtropicales and other great species (Pan Cyan, Woodlovers, etc.) ? You and I sound the same with the exception that I don't listen to music.  What I can say is that, so far, these are my favorite species.

Hey shroomerites! Since this is the exotic thread id figured I'd ask you guys my question, especially with your experience, so ive been attempting some mexicana (jalisco) and I can get pins in my SGFC but they seem to all abort, do the jalisco need higher humidty than normal or does spraying directly mess with them at all? Hope it's cool that I ask this question here

I have found mexicana like it a lil more damp than cubes. However some genetics prefer to only kick stones but usually if u get the FC right u will get at least some fruits
