Hi guys, just wanted to share my experience with Psilocybe semilaceata. I have to say that I won't be around here much to chat, just want to
share what happens in my neck of the woods so I hope I got all the information out. This took place last outdoor season and I went two routes:

Spores--->Agar--->LC--->Grain and Spores--->Agar--->LC--->Cakes

The grain was spawned with regular store bought compost, the cheapest I could find. Used just right out of the bag with no treatment what so ever.
Spawn ratio was roughly 1:3 and cased with coir and grass seeds. This mixture was used in a couple of flower pots and a larger bed that I
planted right onto my lawn with a brick surround, the substrate ended up being ~15cm thick.

The cakes were composed of H-poo, BRF, vermiculite and coir. Half the cakes were buried in my lawn with a top layer of coir and grass seeds.
The other half I kept in their containers cased with coir only. The cakes were left to consolidate for about a month.

All this was done late summer keeping them happy with an occasional shower from the rainwater bin during the drier periods. I'm in
hardiness zone 8 (or about there, can't really tell anymore these days). Primordia started forming when it got a bit colder/wetter (~15C
at night) and there were a lot of them but nothing further happened for 3-4 weeks til it got down to under 10C at night and first pins formed
about 2,5 month after spawning in the middle of autumn.



The fruits were pretty different to what
you would usually find in the wild, some are pretty buff or sturdy with thick stems and all of them had opened their caps more then usual, they even
curled up quite a bit. It becomes more apparent that they are semilanceata when you let them dry out a bit like in the last picture.

Wow those are great too. That’s quite a variety of sizes.

It’s cool how the flower pot ones have no visible colonization except the base of the fruits.

Yeah, that was quite freaking me out at the beginning, even on the bigger bed there wasn't much myc to observe when I pulled away the brick surround.
Just pins turning up. The cakes turned white though but I don't have any photos of that.

TBH I got lazy after doing the cakes and that's why I just spawned the grain to straight compost.

Yes pretty (100%) sure, have updated OP with some other pictures that is showing the nipple a bit better but I think the open caps are most
distracting. Must be the high nutrients and ideal conditions I suppose. Have a look at the last pic showing some fruits that have dried out a
bit and it becomes more apparent that they are semilanceata.

No I haven't. Haven't had a decent experience in a couple of years but will get back into it soon, at least that's the plan.

So I’m coming up on spawn time of Zapotecorum and I’m a little confused looking through past grow logs. I’ve seen some implementing wood or using mainly wood based subs and others no wood and just supplemented soil or manure. My plan with the spawn has been humus compost (which is basically forest stuff that’s been composted) and probably some hpoo, verm, maybe a little coir to fluff it a bit some straw too. Just trying to find out is there anything that has been a proven substrate of choice or are we still in a gray area.

If your wondering the wood based sub I’m referring to is pasty’s grow with wheat and oak pellets that turned out pretty nice.

Those are all very beautiful grows!
They do look a bit off for being liberty caps (semilaceata) though. Maybe a trusted identifier could chime in and let us know the phenotypes vary like that ... or you got a mislabeled print!


In Other Psilo News...

My Psilocybe Allenii grow is starting to push up fruits.
It is hard to see but there are about four fruits in the first photo.
This little patch is definitely not as healthy as the psilocybe cyanescens patch. I would say the problem was that early on I didn’t have big enough drainage holes and I didn’t notice until the wood chip substrate was water logged for a couple of weeks.
Things improved when I drilled bigger drainage holes but it never bounced back fully.
