I was talking to supa about this the other day, now there is proof through dna sequencing that it is in Section Mexicanae I wondered if it would produce sclerotia, great observation scapo, clone that stone 👍

Yeah I've gotten hoogs sclerotia in the plates. It's weird. Doesn't grow on the surface but rather, inside of the agar.

Can't wait to see it in the sub though! Sick!

Please do, I am happy you like the idea! I came up with it when I realized that having a species collection as spores in a bin wasn't sufficient for me to appreciate the genus overall. It started small and evolved into small display domes in a golf ball case

I also had a lot of help from other legends in the community, I grew some and foraged some but most of what you see came from the legends who foraged them. It was a collaborative effort and I will always be thankful to them, I am still trying to figure out the next step for it - ideally, it would go somewhere the general public can appreciate it and it will be safe

I dried them already, at first I was not sure if they were sclerotia but they smell like them and there are more forming in the jars that are more brown and larger

I have the jar of colonized pf cake cased with ground coffee in a tote with FAE holes and they started forming and poking through the surface pretty quickly, must be the caffeine getting them excited

Looks like one of my isolates is actually a strong stone producer, these all came from only 2x 4oz brf cakes



And here is a pic of the actual fruits printing to show that yes, these are hoogshagenii

Wonder if it's another fruit like Mexicana situation. Seems to work wonders for Samuiensis and I haven't even seen a stone or pseudo sclerotia with them.

Very nice, Scapo!  I went back and checked some old plates, and this one is starting to throw stones.  Buried inside the agar, just as Supa mentioned.





I have LI to a straw/BRF jar colonizing very well.
