Jakeoncid419 said: Lol in nature they are super rare! I said in the opening comment of this thread I didn’t mind some mexicana posts. Good work next I can I can be a pain in the ass you can do everything right but if you have the wrong genetics you’re not going to get any fruits and because they produce stones I feel like Non-mushroom producing genetics are more common place because of the stones I too have a mexicana tray with just a lone Shroom
Hell yeah, I got a good pinset on my first try (brf to coir in SGFC) but I think I just let it dry out to much because the pins shriveled and aborted but those pins were alot skinnier and smaller then this one
My main worry now is that what if I mislabelled a jar and its actually a cube, hahaha I did that a few weeks ago with Reishi on accident
Lol I did that last time I ran Tamps lol at first I was like holy shit these joints are massive lol
Hahaha I know the feeling! Its super exciting seeing the super fat pins until you realize they're actually cubes instead, not sure on this pin as its still small but its looking pretty fat fot a mexicana
Hopefully gonna get some tamps and galindoli to germinate soon, also gotta get straw and try out pan cyans on a proper manure and straw substrate, last attempt I used cow manure and coir/verm since i hand plenty extra on hand and it never even pinned in my SGFC, got some pan cyans Aussie to start up with some pan cintulus and gotta find some pan Bisporus to try out to

Right on yeah that lone pin is alt 7 it’s the only fruit out of several trays but I know it’s alt7 cuz it’s kicking stones up all over like little gofer mounds lol

God stones are beautiful! My mexican doesn't seem to put off alot of stones actually, got a few tiny stones on BRF and none at all on oats, the brf stones were like little pebbles though didn't end up eating them or anything since they were so small I want to try a bag with some rye berries next time for stones hopefully the bigger container and different substrate will make bigger truffles

I'm not even sure what substrate to use, surely it doesn't grow solely from clay in nature.
Ok I just talked to Alan I was right they are closely related to zaps, so they should do good on the sugar cane Here are the species it’s close to the Identification column on right shows how close

@JOC
I’ve always been told to take transfers from the leading edge. This post piqued my interest and wanted to get your opinion on where to take transfers from. Or is sectoring different? I have a few Caerulescens plates with areas bordering rhyzomorphic but they are older plates and wouldn’t be from the leading edge.

The leading edge is the youngest culture however pans move so quickly across the dish I’ve found with them at least it does not matter. Also if I’m trying to bulk up my dishes I will leave the outer edge so the culture can continue to colonize the dish from that point on and I can pull more transfers if need be or even use the dish to colonize grain when it’s ready

Right on, thanks! I’ll have to give it a try on my Pans. If the culture is still contaminant free after taking xfers I hold onto them as well and sometimes use to colonize grain. Have a few Caerulescens cultures I’d like to get your feedback on as far as where to take xfers from.
1.) Was thinking about taking several transfers from the 10 - 2 o’clock positions.
2.). This one I was thinking 5, 7 & 9 o’clock.
3.). Probably at least one from each of the three sectors.
4.). From the 12 o’clock position at least.

Next up for me is Muliercula, Tamp (Not sure what variation but from the Tamps I’ve seen this is a large print) and PE6. Know the PE6 isn’t exotic but it’s another huge print and should be fun!

Different phenotypes of Caerulescens I’m working on. Just noc’d 4 more plates with spores from a wild fruit found in my yard about a week ago that aren’t in the pic.
L to R:
1.). Spores from my first indoor fruit. 2.). Clone plates from first indoor fruit. 3.). Experimental culture starting with xfer from highly contaminated plate
4.). Grain spawn transfer 5.). Spores from wild fruit found last winter 6.). Spores from second indoor fruit 7.). New experiment from contaminated plate. Will be taking more transfers from the plate as soon as my agar sets. Wanted to take a transfer from where the myc was actually going after the mold.
Left another one out by mistake which is my master plate from the first wild fruit I found.

Hahaha I find it funny, this is the second time I've done this actually to, i swear I had grabbed the right syringe but perhaps I didn't i guess
On another note I think my tamps germinated on agar finally! I swabbed it in a Z shape and theres some growth all over the Z it just looks really really thick and I expected it to turn green but its been a couple days and it hasn't yet so mabye my nutrients were just really high in that batch
Also put some galindoli and pan cyan Jamaica to agar, gonna make a semperviva syringe and put it on agar next
Hey Jake when you do semperviva (also hoogshagneii perhaps? Not sure if they're the same species) is there a tek you like other then the sugar cane bagasse? I like the sugar cane but can't get any
