Starting to experiment with aztecorum, it looks pretty crazy on agar with these aerial rhizos. There's not much cult info that I could find on them, anyone have any links that I might not have come across?

Check out the observations on iNaturalist here:
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?taxon_id=206120
I find this helpful when there's little other info available around a species.
It's supposed to be close to Ps cyanescens, subaeruginosa, azurescens. I'll be trying to fruit it in three same conditions as those.

Aztecorum is not very close to cyans, subs, azzys to my knowledge. It is a wood lover though! Aztecorum sits in its own section actually. A closely related species that also exhibits strange behavior on agar like this is Ps. caeruleorhiza

Right, my error on that. Reviewing the ITS trees again that stuck out to me, not sure where I got that idea.

Treat them like cyans/subs etc Fungus Gnat. They fruit under the same basic parameters. I've had a few fruits pop up on scotts naturescape. In the wild they seem to fruit on aged hardwood so I'm not sure how they would do on fresh hardwood chips (?). Their mycelium is agggressive with long "fingers" and stains quite blue when cut/bruised, a distinction from the other woodlovers.

Thanks for the info! Hopefully I'll get it to chips soon and see how that goes, maybe some pasteurized older ones as well.

My initial quebecensis (sect. aztecorum) plates were spikey too until like T2/T3 then became very uniform with that same silky, filamentous quality. Also, some cultures didn't do this at all... Maybe not relevant, but food for thought. Was spikey outdoors again though...
But T5 was like And T7 was gorgeous

Wow these look WAY too big to be Mexicana!
My Mexicana Jalisco grew super thin fruits with tiny caps and they are kinda reddish. Did you use ryegrass seed as a substrate?

I did actually get a bag of fresh chips to colonize, that's not to say it will work every time though. It was definitely slow

Beautiful cultures chosen one, that one from Section Zapotecorum looks similar to some of the P. aucklandiae cultures I've worked with.

Psilocybe weraroa wild clone, both transfered from the same dish, the first one is on PDA, the second is on 1/2 MEA. Psilocybe aucklandiae, two isolated cultures from spore germinations from a wild collected specimen, all T3, PDA and 1/2 MEA respectively, this first one is designated 'O' The second one is designated 'Q'

They do seem to like the 1/2 MEA better. I'm seeing the same results here with a few species. I'm even considering cutting it down to 1/4 for my section Cordispora collection. I've been doing a lot of research and re-thinking the approach in general with them. Probably going to be trying some extreme and unusual things with them lol. For psilocybes anyways. We are approaching the end of the Xylaria Hypoxylon season here and they have been speaking to me in regards.
O reminds me of the Zapotecorum Texolo and Q looks a lot like Tapalpa. At least right now lol. I took a close look at India with my loupe last night. I was able to compare to Pan. Bisporus and they are amazingly similar. India is a little thicker but has the same off white/gray tint to it. The mycelial strands are really close except India bagels where Bispo tends to curl in all directions.
On other fronts.. you can tell I'm excited when I spend several minutes and a lot of pics trying to catch barely a millimeter of growth. I had already went into panic when I didn't see any growth at all on day 4. Excuse the floaters. Didn't do a very good job of shaking up the Vanilla Bean extract. Too busy tasting it.
Psilocybe aff. Hopii (Gandalfiana) T2 to LC day 5 I'm feeling a strange connection to this one for some reason. It's a feeling similar to my connection with the Mexican and South American species and hard to describe.

If it wasn't for the light you probably wouldn't even see it.
Psilocybe Neoxalapensis test jar day 26 millet
Likes LC though. Already recovered from the last pull not even two weeks ago.
 Psilocybe Neoxalapensis LC recovering
For some reason I've been stressing on the two jars thinking they're slow.. but it's only day 18 so nevermind.
Psilocybe Samuiensis test jar day 18 BRF/PB
The Bagel continues..
Wait. That little shit is running backwards. It's the Anti-Bagel.

Sure does. Actually it was the fastest growing out of some recent ones I tried on just brown sugar (-w- inverse sugar/nutrients) alone. Kept in a cold corner too. My grain jars of it from clean LC test plates are doing approximately dick and a half though.

My neoxalapensis (acajete) are moving at a decent speed in some of my selections. The blob clones move about the same speed as papuana, or 2/3 as fast as semps. I just started an LC of them so we'll see how that goes.
They don't recover very fast at all on grain when shaken, and they seem to prefer rye (over oats) like papuana.

New Subtropicalis (not Zap) genetics grows from wild spores. By taste (no cucumber alkalinity) and structure (fibrous stalk), it seems to be Subtropicalis. Joker from wild swabs collections )
