Sitting here thinking about a stoned Amish guy trying to scoop room temp frozen pizza putty into a stone oven Stuntzii and galindoii coir boxes coming along. Some subtropicalis, semilanceata, and stuntzii spawn I can get ready some sub for. (The stuntzii spawn is filthy corn with all the starchy bits and chaff from the bottom of a bag of feed corn in it. Looks gross plus stuntzii myc looks like mold even on nice clean oats. Thin with hot spots. Smells lovely though Waiting on banderillensis angulospora, and neoxalapensis to grow on barfpucks is slooooow going. Sent a neox germ plate yesterday though so maybe that'll gain me some ground ๐

The stunziii looks awesome! How long ago did you spawn it? I spawned a couple shoeboxes last week.

Good stuff Alaska!
@scapo, is that how your cultures tend to look for papuana? Iโve been getting bothered when mine look like that and I havenโt ran any that did, pitched many as well. Switched from mea to mya and seemed to help get something I was more familiar with, so thinking I may have jumped the gun on those decisions..

Yes, more internal growth than surface growth. I sequenced one of my plates as well and it came back cf papuana

LT - spawned on the 23rd I believe. You running yours on coir again? Also have you seen your plates of these ever cluster heavily with knots/pins? I am almost positive I threw away some that were clustering knots like crazy in concentric zones. Some of my T6/T7s are thickening in the same manner so made me think maybe they were in fact knotting up then.

Nice one ekabpils, it's a good looking pinset from wild spores, it will be interesting to see how they progress ๐

Well done, it always pays to test multiple isolates, did you see any sclerotia yet?

Yes, Iโve got a couple more jars that I want to run on other substrates, but coir worked well last time. I havenโt seen it pin on agar, but I could picture it happening. The cultures Iโm working with now look better than the ones I started with.

Hope everyone survived the new year. I'm still thinking about it.. so, mushrooms. Getting a blurry look at the test jar gang.

I've got the prior test jar cased for a top fruiting attempt. This one will likely go to bulk along with a few others. Might try and top fruit the one with WFP though. Well see.
Psilocybe Niveotropicalis BRF/PB/Flax test jar day 14
There's a pair of these and just noc'd another pair last night. I'll likely top fruit one of these and move the other to straw based substrate.
Psilocybe Zapotecorum Valdivia BRF/PB test day 14
There's a pair of these I'll likely put to chips. An earlier one went to test substrate and immediately started attacking the WFP faster than everything else.
Psilocybe Aztecorum BRF/PB/FLAX/WFP test jar day 14
There's a pair of Samuiensis the same age in there. Healthy but slower. Also four Neoxalapensis which are quite slow and somewhat thin. It didn't like the WFP at all and is definitely better on grain. The LC wasn't as thick for either of these which is likely partly responsible for the slow speeds.
Made a few more LCs yesterday as well. Angulospora, aff. Hopii (Gandalfiana), Undescribed section Zapotecorum India and a few variations of Subtropicalis. Looking forward to testing those.

Others cultures show sclerotias growing without pinning.

Interesting, I'm sure you'll find some excellent specimens for cloning and maybe some superior sclerotia forming cultures too ๐

Good 48hr recovery on my zap jars given the temps I subjected them to.
Had old (donor wedge "T1s") stacking up, so took the waste-not/want not attitude and sent some questionable wedges of angulospora, caerulescens, neoxalapensis, baeocystis, weraroa, hispanica, zapotecorum, pan cyan to pt, 1/2pt, & 1/4pt jars of WBR. God forbid I just sit on my hands for ten seconds

This was a rather fun find:
The 64oz tupperware of cased Stuntzii chips I prepared in May, fruited indoors in August, and left outside to the elements has fruited once again! A lot of action for a small container
