Made another transfer from one of the original plates and threw a few wedges on chips yesterday for the heck of it. They're already fuzzing up so it looks like it may be able to bypass grain. I'll make wedge vials and LC from the T2 fairly soon. It's moving relatively fast.

I have no problem with it bypassing grain. It's barely been 48 hours and it's beginning to encompass chips. If it's this fast with agar I can't wait to get it to LC. The chips are mostly italian plumb with a little fir, alder and apple.

Man it's weird not having any mushroom work tonight.

Had a fun cult day, put Papuana and Caerulescens to grain, Azzies to hwfp and the next iteration of my JF Kodama cross to coir.

Those azzies on homedepot dyed mulch (batch pasteurized) and hwfp, spawned 21st Dec. I kept a layer of grain rather than mixing.

Transferred Ps thaiaeruginomaculans (thx Tweeq!) from this plate to T1s today:

Also transferred niveo-tropicalis, hoping to follow the two along and see how similar they are in habit.

So the unknown WL from India is officially Ps. thaiaeruginomaculans? That name looks like it belongs on the back of a hockey jersey! 😀

I don't know more officially what the species is, just going with it for now since it was sequenced close to that.

It basically means to compare, it means the organism in question is similar to but not necessarily the species stated.

What a night and day difference getting aztecorum to wood! They’re really shining on these chips, compared to grain. Colonization of grain took a very long time, granted they were a bit dry, but these chips god damn they’ve got some spring in their step.

Thaiaeru is also loving the move to chips as well.

Also excited to spawn these papuana jars. Moving to rye seems to be helping my effort as these are the best looking jars I’ve had thus far, oats were not cutting it for me.

Niveo-tropicalis also seems to be loving the move to chips but no pictures cause I just shook them up.

Well done! How did you prep your chips for using them as spawn?

Just a 24hr soak in a bucket of boiling water then drain for an hour or two before loading em into jars. Mix of hardwood chips picked up from the Amish last year, fucking love those folks. Little tip if you ever want to get in good with them, at least the groups around me, the fucking love frozen pizzas…

That’s good to know! They must eat them immediately in warmer months because I don’t think they have refrigeration

About to bring some papuana (by VL) to substrate, we'll see how it goes! I'm thinking a bag of cv & fuel pellets
