Will do. Looks pretty easy. I'm only a decade behind the current technology.
A few of tonight's favorites..
This is still very early, but a beautiful sight after all the work put in.
Psilocybe Zapotecorum Valdivia test jar. BRF, PB, millet, flax. Day 4
Quicker and fuzzier after the transfer.
Psilocybe Caeruleoannulata Chile T2 day 5
Cruising right along.
UD sect. Zapotecorum India T2 day 5
This wedge was so thin. It was just a little LC left over from other work and one of those last dish poured kind of things. So I threw the philosophy at it. Looks like mold but there's banding going on again.
Psilocybe Neoxalapensis T2 from LC on agar day 4
So out of all the species hitting the test jars lately I'm noticing only Niveotropicalis and Aztecorum like the WFP. Zapotecorum don't mind it but doesn't seem to be making use of it. Both in jars and substrate. I'm definitely going back to grains and straw with them. Probably use some straw in the next round of tests.
Other than that there's a big pile for tomorrow. Going to transfer and vial Angulospora, Yungensis, Banderillensis and maybe Weraroa. Probably get some LC in the new vials while I'm at it.

makes me happy to see the same form of myc as my neoxalapensis (or maybe we're both growing the same mold? ).
Scapo's look very different.

I'm feeling better about it now too. This is the same culture as scapo's. I think it'll straighten out a little once it clears the LC muck. I'll pull another transfer or two before I put some in storage on wedges. The expanded LC is on today's list for vials. It's testing clean in all the test jars. Doesn't like the WFP though. It's a bit slow on grains too. Which I think scapo mentioned. I'm very curious how it's going to react to straw. I've found most psilocybes like it regardless of what they normally fruit on. I just wish it came as finely shredded as I make it. Shredding always gets my allergies going even with a mask.

Yeah I will be sticking with straw pellets over raw bales. You get a lot from a 20lb bag, best to find something like the oxbow stuff at a pet store. It's sold for bedding, made from wheat straw.
@inski those look really interesting. Were those the ones that bobwastaken found? Or a similar collection?

Yeah seeing yours had me shopping the other day lol. I found the wheat straw and barley straw which I thought might be interesting.

I ran my semps on it the last time and it worked well pasteurized. I hydrated, pasteurized in my pc in jars.
I'm looking at a local pet supply place and seeing interesting stuff, pea husk and walnut husk litters. Some of this might make potential tests for alternative substrates. Maybe pea litter would be similar to soy husk in masters mix, since they're both fabaceae.
Yesterday I spawned ovoids (pnw) and semps (xico) to straw pellets and composted manure.
I also spawned ovoids to HWFP + pasteurized home depot garden mulch (black stained stuff). Azures went to the same stuff as well.
I'll be tracking how well ovoids eat each along side azures and semps respectively.

Thanks chosen, yes they can be quite stout, this was a container that sat fully colonised for a few months before temperatures were suitable for fruiting, I had some minor overlay on previous experiments so I'm now trying a slightly deeper casing which is looking good, this was from an isolate from a multispore germination, the next container which is forming primordia is a clone so that will be really interesting😀

These are certainly a very interesting species with some quite unique macroscopic traits, the bobwastaken collection as far as I know without reading some older threads was from Australia, this was found in New Zealand fruiting from a grassy habitat near a pine plantation in summer, I'm certain it is an introduced tropical species possibly from Thailand, hopefully angulospora can comment as I think he has information regarding the ITS sequence and what it's closely related to.

Eventually, I've got a cold spot in the house so I'm going see what happens indoors. It stays between 12 and 15 Celsius.

Nice, yeah do indoor if you can. I've been working on a fridge but it's hard to get it to balance temps correctly with a day/night cycle.

This is just on BRF/verm cakes inoculated with LC, I used a properly pasteurised casing material.
2 parts peat 1 part vermiculite 1 part perlite 1/8 part calcium carbonate 1/8 part gypsum
Pasteurised for two hours at 70c

I make the BRF cakes slightly drier to compensate for the addition of LC.

Pretty much the same here. This is from the T1. T2 is expanding in LC now, a few days in.
