aff. Hopii mystery solved. LT and I were trying to figure it out in the journal.

Yeah it's an awesome name. Excited to be working with it.

Speaking of work

Another 4 hours total behind the hood this weekend. Just finished up a round of LC syringes and my first cryo vials. There's going to be a lot more but I was beat by the time I got to them. Getting a lot of things backed up now though. Plus I'll run out of test jars lol. Noc'd 8 more, 2 each Zapotecorum Valdivia, Neoxalapensis, Samuiensis and Caerulescens Tonila.

Last week's test jars are all clean so far and beginning to colonize. Neoxalapensis is by far the slowest. Niveotropicalis is by far the fastest. Aztecorum is right in the middle.

Psilocybe aff. Hopii (Gandalfiana) T2 day 2

Both transfers are taking off fast. Way ahead of most of the other species in that box. Literally riding Shadowfax.

Exciting stuff chosen, is this one of those secotioid species?
Section Cyanescens, I wonder how close the ITS sequence is to P. weraroa, I have some P. weraroa monokaryons which I need to revive and it would be interesting to try some hybrids.

Great work so far! I’m treating it like a wood lover - it rips on hard wood chips

Thanks! I'm feeling pretty blessed to be working with it. I wonder if it's close enough. I'm not finding a sequence for either with a quick search. Here's what she looks like though.

I was thinking the same. Especially seeing that environment. Pine, spruce and fir would probably be the best. I wonder how they would react to a hardwood.. :strokebeard3:

Neoxalapensis appears to be eating several substrates at a decent rate. These are 8 days since transfer:

Starter mix:

Straw pellets + coir:

Subtropicalis for comparison, taken at the same time:

Who knew pan cyan would like manure?

Semps might like wood chips?

Not a lot to draw conclusions from yet, but this is where the wind is blowing. Also posted the much slower baeo containers in that thread.

Also seeing decent post shake-recovery from neoxalapensis on oats. This jar was initially transferred on Nov 10 and took forever to show anything. Then I gently rolled it around a couple days ago and saw there were clumps of colonized grain within, so I gave it a good shake. This is two days recovery.

Seems they like the straw pellets. I'm a big fan of straw, but never tried the pellets. Might have to grab a bag after seeing this.
:snoopyes:

So far mine are moving better with grains than with wood based substrate. Either way they are slow. The LC wasn't very thick so that might be part of it.

Meanwhile out of everything going on subs or in test jars the Niveotropicalis is tearing everything up. Getting close to making a top frit attempt, but I may punt and spawn it.

I went to spawn my Caerulescens SC jar the other day and found trich in the middle. Put the kibosh on that real quick lol. Thankfully it was the last project of the day so not much will be affected.

I did spawn some Zapo's though. Just need to remember which ones. I think it was Valdivia but I wouldn't bet my life on it. I really need to get these sessions under 4 hours.

When I first saw the white wave pouring off the southern tip I thought mold for sure. Can't see it in this pic but it's banding like the other sectors. Gonna be some interesting choices here.

I see a beautiful substrate write up in your future! Taking all the guesswork and failure out of the equation for us amateurs. Thats the real reason I send you all the genetics 🤣

I can track it down

My chips are alder! They did not fruit in normal indoor conditions btw. I have since cased it and left it to the elements, hoping for spring fruits

Yeah seeing that environment, apparently not long after snow melt, I'm thinking outdoors is probably the best option.

Caerulipes t1 are looking decent. Don’t have a plan currently but we’ll see where this takes me down the line.

Likely doing these outdoors unless things change with the state of my basement…

Test jars..

Getting really close. Probably going to spawn to chips.

Psilocybe Aztecorum day 29 BRF

Psilocybe Aztecorum day 29 BRF

A little slower, but loves everything I've thrown at it so far. Got several going so I'll probably experiment with top fruiting and spawning.

Psilocybe Niveotropicalis day 29 BRF

Psilocybe Niveotropicalis day 29 BRF

Psilocybe Niveotropicalis day 10 BRF, Pearl Barley, Flax

Looks great! Took a bag of aztecorum on conifer chips to FC with a peat/verm casing the other week, placed it outside and poked a couple holes in the bag. We'll see if it fruits this season! Not looking like it yet but the myc looks happy

Yeah, I've played with Aztecorum before. It's one of those outside things. It might go in one of my cold rooms this year, but I think it needs a lot of wood to fruit and I'm not committing that much space inside lol.

My Yungensis is catching up! Heimii also (yours did the weird corner thing too lol). Probably going to T2 those and Angulospora this weekend. :awesomenod:
