Cross post from Zapotecorum thread..
Zapotecorum Tapalpa in corn soak water, corn syrup and vanilla LC.
Ready to harvest. Might take a 12ga needle but ready lol.
First extraction test. One is BRF and the other is 50/50 BRF/Pearl Barley. Not much difference between the two so far.
 Zapotecorum Tapalpa LC test.

Psilocybe Angulospora day 8 Finally just stepping onto it's new home. Very slow initially. Took the wedge about seven days to visibly recover from the stasis fluid. There's two. Both nearly identical at this point.
I did manage to spawn a small grain jar of the Zapotecorum Tapalpa to substrate late last night. I'm already checking it.

Psilocybe Neoxalapensis in corn syrup and vanilla LC This one came through trade in LC. This is the amplification of 2ml after 8 days. I might take a small pull today to put back on agar and in a PF jar or two. It's a little early but agar is in the PC now for another round. Might be the last batch for a few weeks. Today's round, besides this, is.. Psilocybe Heimii Psilocybe Hoogshagenii Psilocybe Hopii Psilocybe Yungensis and an undescribed section Zapotecorum from India.
Like I said.. shit's goin' on.

Oh man I’m excited to see the progress on the hoogs and hopii, I’ve been thinking of trying to get my ass down to Arizona to visit some friends next season… those two are a distant dream someday. you sure are packing em in, I’m just watching and drooling…

I always think matrix.
Nerding up for a moment because I'd really like to know the why and how.. I see Neo in the names of a few species. So neo is Greek for new. There's no neo in the Latin break down. Here
Wtf? Did they run out of Latin? Or do we blame the pier group? A rabbit hole for another time.

I've had the good fortune of hooking up with some really amazing traders lately. One in particular has an incredible collection and has been a great help in helping rebuild mine after the fridge crash. The goal is to get up around 50 species again. That gets a little scary when you throw in the varietals. Right now I'm mostly focused on getting everything cultured and into storage. Pushing a few things beyond while I do it. Hopefully within a few months I can start spreading the love.

I've had heimii on agar for weeks but the spores in the swab were probably dead. Cool to hear you've got that one going! I've been working on neoxalapensis for a while, it's a fair bit slower than say semps.

Very cool wavy, curious what you’ve learned so far with neoxalapensis, just streaked some plates the other day with those and caerulipes. Already getting some germination on the caerulipes and hoping the neo will follow suit, my last attempt with them I couldn’t get the print to germinate no matter how hard I tried… though I’m leaning towards trying that ATP agar chosen was talking about, eventually I’ll get around to that I suppose.
And I hope you do chosen, I can’t even fathom 50 species, I’m slowly working my way up but no where near that level of selections, haha.

Anyone having any success with Samuiensis recently? My grain jars are close to fully colonized. Thinking about a coir substrate with a verm/sand casing.

It's a juggling act for sure lol. Won't be so bad once things start going to slants though.
And yeah most of the Fagicola complex is the slowest of the slow. I'm really looking forward to tackling them this time. Just dying to get at least one species to grain soon.

Nice! My initial grain master stalled on me so dropped a new selection to grain not too long ago which is moving a lot better, probably shaking this jar soon.

I think your plan could work, workman told me to treat them like mexicana so I plan to spawn them to manure/coir at 30/70 ratio and case with peat/lime as that’s how I’ve done Mexi in the past to decent success. I never tried Mexi without manure but tamps go fine without manure so Mexi maybe would too and samui, all speculation though as I have no experience with these guys, so grain of salt.

I see grain in your future… do you prefer slants over day crypto vials of water? I’ve been doing water vials but not for too long maybe a year or year and half as I’ve lost interest in needing cooling for slants. Just curious as to you experience

I had ok luck on straw and millet with them on the first release. A handful of small fruits. I'm planning on going with a sort of universal test sub this time. It's a 30/30/30 mix of coir/straw/wfp with the remaining 10% manure. There's a handful of worm poo and verm as well.

Slants are pain but seem to outlive everything. I'm backing up every way possible this time though. Won't be going through this again before I die.

Ok I'm back. Was racing the cooling agar.
So how are you liking the water vials? Many of the trades I've been getting are in them. I've never tried them but thought about it a bit. I've been backing up with prints when I get that far. Slants in the middle stages after I settle on a selection. Plates and LC in capped syringes for the early stages. The vials definitely make shipping easier but I wonder how long they can last. I would imagine about the same as a capped syringe of LC which depending on species can last several years. Hmmm. I guess with a little maintenance now and then they could replace slants. Man that'd sure be nice. Maybe I'll go that route.

I’ve been enjoying them so far, I made the move towards them primarily cause I was having issues storing pans in the cold, but still fresh to them. Haven’t had any issues so far reviving things a year+ old. I’ll be curious to see how far they can be pushed though. Probably should be doing a secondary method as well though but space is too limited to really dig deep in that, maybe in the future…

Yeah. Those for punched wedges and the the vaccine style for LC. If the wedges last a few years I'd be thrilled.
