Eastern Arizona ID
    #25869867 - 03/12/19 02:27 PM (5 years, 1 month ago)

So I found these in north eastern Arizona about 4K elevation they look like p. Aztecorum but wanted some feedback if that is correct. It’s growing in horse manure. And I read that they usually grow on wood and dead leafs, will add pictures soon not sure how right now buts it’s a white stalk with a yellowish tan/brown cap. It’s about 2 inches tall so far and cap hasn’t separated from stalk this is a picture from 2 days ago will uploaded new one later

Put the manure with the mushrooms in a plastic container and let them mature. Hard to tell species when they're so young.

Welcome to the Shroomery.

It is not possible to ID these without photos of mature specimens, put them in a tupperware for a day or 2.

It looks like Psilocybe but I don't think it is.

Here are some Psilocybe that I have found in Arizona:  https://mushroomobserver.org/250642

okay so i just got back home, and they grew a little more sense this morning the caps are just starting to open up and turn back white so hopefully by tomorrow i can add pictures of the belly.and in one of the pics one of the stalk is cracked, not sure if thats due to over watering or i read verticillium but not seaing any coloration around it.but i did see about four or five more starting to sprout at the base and one on the other side of the jug. aswell sorry if the pictures arent the best taking them with the iphone x.

Nothing like a pile shit to get you interested in mushrooms  I can literally spend hours on a dung pile looking at mushrooms.

thats how I got into it.  I thought the only magic ones grew on cow shit when i first learned about active mushrooms. then I wanted to know about the ones i can cook and medicinal ones.  once youre hooked, you're hooked

That print looks jet black to me.

That was always the hard thing to do, telling the difference from really really dark brown to jet black.

I have no answer for you!

I tend to agree. Mushrooms are so fun. I'm into growing reishi, two strains of shiitake, and two strains of oysters right now.

It's neat. I don't mess around with actives, but someday I might!

yeah see thats what i thought as well but this one is a little on the edge some say it has psychoactive compounds in it but some say that its none edible do to digestive issues. still doing research. made prints and letting the two i have dry out.

but yeah i started out with actives and the conversations i would have with myself while on them made me want to do more research and after that i was pretty much in love.
