Testing your potency

Just posting this here to hear different opinions than the standard people I hear from.

Anyway, what do you guys do to test your mushroom potency? I just cloned a fruit.. have it on its second transfer on agar.. and getting ready to put to grain this weekend. Anyway, when I ate the mushroom I cloned, I also mixed it with several others that were from a MS grow.

I'm just curious if you guys have a certain way you test your potency. Eat a micro dose of one mushroom and see? Meh. I'm probably over complicating things.. but I was just curious.

I'm really trying to get ahold of that gene that just creates absolutely "clean" bliss.

Anyway.. feel free to drop some knowledge here!

interesting. i do 2g of new clone as a way to test potency, obviously that method is far from ideal.

If 2g get intense its good genetics for me.  :shrug:

im really interested how others test potency.

I test potency with a .3-.5 mabye a Gram but the last batch I tested I got a solid level 1 off of 0.3 surprising enough

I figured it would be cool to get insight on other methods. Personally, I don't enjoy micro dosing because it just makes me feel weird.

So I guess I would have to go with a dose somewhat powerful. Maybe like 2g or something. But I cant trip at all times so I might need to bite the bullet and microdose just til I know what I'm really working with lol.

Taking a smaller dose is good imo

Like what you guys mentioned, around 2g or so

I just assume they're decent no matter what :shrug:

What does testing mean if you luckily eat a very potent shroom for your test? The others still could be weak. Isolating doesn't get rid of potency variation completly.

Make sure to powderize and mix your batch evenly before testing. Each shroom differs in potency, also with cloned isolates. Mix the powder well to get a homogenized pool of consistent doses.

This way you can test a small dose, and each upcomming dose from the same batch will be equally strong.

I usually test 2 grams as well.

  The first time I dried them I left them in the dehydrator for 24hrs. I thought I had over done it. So I took 8g and holy shit was that intense. Learned my lesson for testing.

I try 10 grams wet of each different "isolate." I do ten grams so that I know they are strong as fuck. If ten grams fresh does good things, then that's a damned potent clone. Usually I pick a fast growing, weighty fruit, partly because I want it to produce weight, and also I can test the potency with that fruit so I don't have to grow out a shoebox.

Yeah I agree that it's hard as fuck to ever determine based off a "test run" how potent they are

Which is why I never really do it

Plus I just have been using the same clone forever

So many variables, mushrooms are unpredictable

I don't work with agar so this info isn't really useful :lol:

One general observation Ive made in growing is that if it looks similar to its "strain photo", its probably pretty potent.

Yeah I've gotten paranoid about that too but mainly because I slipped up and let some people know what I was doing.

I moved though so now noone knows what I'm doing or where I live. So I feel more comfortable about it

Yeah that pic isn't even a good one really. This clone has been amazing to me. I do nothing basically and it gives me full cannopies about every time. Wish I would have had some better pics to share

I dose 1g and get on with my day. My productivity for that morning or afternoon judges their potency. I have a buffer of 1 week between test trips, and 2 weeks between major trips. My SO does 0.5 g and reports back to me on how perceptual it is.

I'm really keen on doing proper extraction to control it properly.

I just grow out the clone and see how it performs. it's a lot more accurate to test the result of the clone, not the original
