WBS Question
    #2587056 - 04/21/04 03:34 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

I've looked all around the Shroomery Cultivation sections and the FAQ but I couldn't find anything on WBS.

I'm planning on doing quart jars of WBS to spawn poo/straw. I was wondering what the best type of birdseed to use was, and how I should go about preparing it.

Thanks for the help, and if this information is in the FAQ, sorry.

type doesn't matter, just don't get anything that's coated with Bird Kote or whatever the fuck it's called. it will say on the bag if it is coated with anything
my friends told me they always use pennington's bird seed.
they soak the seed in water for 12-24 hours
(some peeps like to try and take out the sunflower seeds at this point, but my friends told me they never did and it didn't seem to affect their colinization times...)
then let drain for about 1 hr
pc for 70 min
let cool
knock up
simple enough!

best type of birdseed? hmm wild birdseed is what i use and it's called exactly that. mixture of millet, quintria (however it's spelled) sunflower and maybe some other stuff. i get it at the local grocery store, they sell it in 5, 10, and 20lbs bags for cheap. like i said it's just called wild birdseed. i simmer mine for 30-50mins then drain for 30min, load and pc, works great :stoned:

Thanks for the help.

But what if one didn't have a pressure cooker, what then? No WBS?

And if that is the case, can I use BRF jars to spawn poo/straw with no losses to potency or yield?

yeah i wouldn't mess with grain without a pc, cakes are fine to use as spawn :stoned:

yeh imo no pc=no grain
although some have done "fractional sterilization" (do a search in mushie cult)
or check out loki's microwaved millet grow log
but yes you can successfully spawn brf cakes to straw/poo
most prefer grain b/c the individual grains each act as a seperate innoc point, spreading myc faster
to help yr brf colonize fast, use a cheese grater or something else to chop up yr cakes very fine.
