I left a bale of wheat straw in a pickling lime solution for 3 days. By the time I dumped the 55 gallon barrel out, it seems so waterlogged nothing would work. But I added a couple of jars anyways. I put the straw in baskets like the small black crates that produce suppliers use. I just layered the grain and straw, and then I bagged it all up in big trash bags and poked holes for air.

A week and a half later, indoors at temps around 70 degrees, I had solid blocks of oyster straw.!!! I mean like pure white mycelium.

I could not believe it. But then again, I was hoping that was the case.

So I hydrated a couple bags of hardwood sawdust, and layered a few containers with air pockets with the colonized straw, sawdust, straw, sawdust.

I think it might work!

If they fruit I will post pictures!
