Growing first time, need adviced * 2
    #25868935 - 03/12/19 04:21 AM (8 days, 8 hours ago)

Hei everyone!

What an awesome page shroomery is, been reading here for a a while.
I was active wild shroom harvester, then came across idea to grow myself(accidently met person with spores) And then it all started.

So I made some jars with P. Cubensis
And when first big jar was fully colonized I chose to try monotub and G2G from little what was left.

Here is pics of G2G in action

And here is Mono
Day (1)

Day (2)

Day (3)

Day (4)

Day (5)

I am on the way home now, will post of Day (7 today) and the case itself.
I need advice about my holes I made if they are good and if sub is not drying?
It is so much info, I got lost. Tought will be best to make a post and get advice from real
Mycologists

Btw, how is it lookig so far? I see some chunks getting there.

Will update in 2 hours

Thank You

UPDATE :

Day (7)

INSIDE

After I spawned they never been opened, and i didnt close them with foil or something in beggining and kept in dark while colonizing ( probably should have done? )

P.S

I have fully empty room for this hobby, it looks quite crappy
but i cleaned it all, and now I just have jars, and things I use inside
maybe You guys could give me any tips, in future I would like to squeeze as much as possible and grow alot ( for academic purpose ofcourse )

Lots of Love, Tony

I made extra light setup

Used lightbulb that I used to grow plants (green - blue - red spectrum)

A lot of people say it is good to have light even from beginning (makes mycelium more agressive)

So now I am planning to have it 12/12 ON

Correct me please if the information is not good! Becouse many people say not to use light before pinning

Thanks in advance
Tony.

From the published research I’ve read, you want to avoid all red spectrum light like the plague. White is good, pure blue/UV is best.

I’m going to do a light color experiment in a couple of weeks, since there isn’t exactly an overwhelming amount of cube research done and these resources are limited. Waiting for my transfers to get a little bigger before I do a grain master and get my test subjects together. I will have more information for you at the end of the study.

It's probably not going to hurt them, just be inefficient. People recommend to use 6.5K led lights.

The blue wavelength light and the red wavelength light might cancel each other out, and the remaining light would be beneficial.

One of the things I’m interested in is not just the beneficial effects of light colors, but possible negative side effects. For example, the research says that trich is also positively responsive to blue light.  You might get an amazing first flush, followed by a trich outbreak. A white light that still encourages a bit of growth in the cubes, but which doesn’t greatly encourage the trich, might be better overall.

Like I said, I’ll know more after the study.

Damn I got one of those red-blue-white grow lights on my current shoe boxes.. they had a really bad 2nd flush. I'd love too see the difference Ep.

Sick post Tony!  Can't wait to see what you pull out of that mono.. I've got a feeling you'll be stacking them pulling some big numbers in no time

I'm interested in this too. This is the first I've heard mentioned about trich loving bluelight. I just use indirect daylight but not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to do that.

Also ime with introducing light during colonization... It sometimes seems to make the mycelium pick it up a notch but really I just seem to get a faster(of course lol) pinset and usually a little more plentiful. You have to know your strain though because some are prone to pinning a little too early and you may have pins before full colonization. Most do fine however. I feel like the mycelium benefits from natural light cycles during colonization. Kinda like it gets in it's own circadian rhythm. Then again I haven't done enough side by side tests to be certain so I could be totally wrong.

By the way, I dont see any water droplets on mycelium in closed monotub.
The room has heater on 24/7 to leep temps. Is it a must or will be ok?
I am worried it will dry out. Sub is coir/verm

The water droplets on the mycelium are an indication of good growing conditions, but it isn’t 100% necessary for mushrooms.  My mushrooms grew before I learned how to maintain conditions.  They are forgiving, they will let you learn.

I will try to put big bucket with water in my growing room, maybe will help to have any humidity there because the heater dries all the air inside there... and I think my kids are drying there too

Guys, need advised. My head is exploding from reading.
The room RH is very dry, because of heater in the room and the room is closed and small, I think my sub is dry because I cant see any droplets or anything.

I am breaking my head of to open in for light mist or just leave n forget?

Please someone experienced maybe can advise?
This is my first growing ever so I lack of knowledge

I made a little check now, look stalled for 2-3 days

but I noticed some white stuff(very very white). What is this? Knots or something else, if knots then things are going good or?

Yes, looks like knotting. Do you have condensation on the sides of the tub? If you don't I would mist it lightly.

I haven ever opened it, I have been reading whole day. Some say its bad to open it some say to open and mist. What is the real deal with dialed monotub that after spawning was closed for whole time?r

And if misting will be approved, then walls or sub itself?
Thank You guys for given attention. I am fully fresh in this

If it's stalled badly you want to mist. The whole reason you don't want to open. It before full colonization is because the uncolonized areas are vulnerable to contamination. However if those spots refuse to colonize you'll have to open it so you can give it what it needs to finish. Pick up some ozium air sanitizer (it's usually in Wal-Mart's automotive section)spray the area you work in and turn off anything causing air circulation (heater) so to not stir mold spore up from the floor. Doing both of those things will increase your chances of success

TBH they look fine. I'd let them do their thing for a little longer (day or two) and initiate fruiting. I may not be seeing the pics well enough but it looks colonized. There's a couple spots that will thicken up but you shouldn't have to worry too much about opening it at this point. If you want to mist it won't hurt just not to heavy. Give it that morning dew look on the subtrate but avoid puddles.

Hell yeah man. Congrats. I would take a clone from the 1st flush that way you know you have a rapid colonizer ready to pin right away. Also try to clone a cluster it'll give you better yielding genetics
