Those are Psilocybe cyanescens.  P. allenii is about done, while P. cyanescens keeps going as long as it rains.

Reviving this thread for a gymnopilus may be bad form but here goes. Both were extracted by pouring boiling water over the top.

Psilocybin was found in this first set (via chromatography/spectrometry) but only qualitatively (no idea on concentration).

Test results pending on this second set. I assume they are G. thiersii or luteofolius

Interesting point, the only Gym's I've ever tasted were Gymnopilus junonius and they were as bitter as hell, but I suppose there is no logical reason why one species should be as bitter as the next, and I guess I'm guilty of being one of those who have been perpetuating this notion! I think I'll just keep my mouth shut in future until I know better!

I found both pictured above bitter but the purple ones much less so. The first ones were very bitter. Maybe a level 1 trip on those purple ones

Interesting... I thought it be the other way around and the purple one would have no psilocybin. Any idea the percentage of since content to fresh/dry weight?

I know the season for actives around here has been over for a bit now...

....but just as a "for the record" sorta thing, a little bit of the woodchips/myc I pulled up from one of my patches back in December is fruiting at the moment (Allenii).

What they are growing out of is mostly just a few handfuls/bits of woodchips that had some myc on them and scraps of mushroom bits/stems that I tossed into the woodchips from when I harvested one of my patches back in December...This small pile of woodchips sat in a paper bag in my room from Dec to February, it was completely dried out after sitting in my room for a couple months...Sometime in middle/late February I placed the paper bag/woodchips outside, I placed some pieces of moist egg carton on the chips and started to mist it with water once a day (but I would sometimes forget/miss a day).

I wasn't doing this to try to get it to fruit...I was planning on using these scraps of chips as "spawn" in a way to expand the myc onto more fresh chips so I can have a little patch in my backyard...I wanted to get the myc moist/alive again so I was misting it once every day or two.

About 10 days ago I spotted a little mushroom growing out of the small pile of chips, thought that was cool to see...but as of the past 5 days or so I've started to spot a bunch of little pins popping up everywhere and some mushrooms that are already on their way to maturing.

I'm stoked on this because I never got to eat them fresh this season lol, and eating mushrooms fresh is my favorite thing ever ....So I'm looking forward to having a spring time trip with freshies sometime in the near future :awesome: .

I know it's not unheard of for patches to push out another small flush sometimes late in the season if the conditions are right...But I'm thinking what might have happened is that when this small pile of chips sat in my room in a bag for 2 months at room temperature and became completely dried out, this was almost like going through an artificial "summer time", then when I placed the chips back outside in damp/cool weather it was like going into "fall" again so it triggered it to pin & fruit...?...

That's what I'm assuming happened  ....but it is weird to see them popping up while my orange tree is in blossom and while feeling the warmth of spring sunshine on my back.

What a nice treat :sun: .

Found a bunch of bluing Gymnopilus a few days ago. The responses in the ID thread all agreed they were Gymnopilus Thiersii. Spore prints were bright orange, and taste was very bitter. I made a tea, and also dried some out, and ground into a powder. Will give them a try this weekend. Any ideas on amount to take? Tea was 688 grams fresh to 2L water. Also have some dried.

OM that is so cool that they were able to withstand moving around from inside to out throughout the season and still put up some super late fruits. That's an interesting theory on whether them being inside and dry mimicked their summer, and then being put back outside mimicked fall, so they put up some fruits. That could really change how people cultivate these.

But hey enjoy that surprise!

Also, xerbia, those are some beautiful looking mushrooms! I have no idea on dosage, but I might have to keep an eye out for those. I've never been interested in gyms due to what I've heard about how gross they are and the fact that there are plenty of other woodlovers to enjoy, but those just look so cool!

I was so excited to finally find some! I became interested in them just because of how beautiful they are, and in person they really are magnificent with their deep purple/red colors. I was on a walk with my fiancee and she pointed them out from a distance. When we went to check them out, I was ecstatic.

I just tried 1 cup of the tea I made from them about 30 min ago, (tea was 2L water and 688 grams wet gyms, so roughly just took 80 grams fresh). Definitely psychedelic as I'm getting that change in head space and letters on screens starting to wiggle. Feel relaxed and focused. Very mild though. This weekend I'll try a good amount more.

Seeing these guys after every rain in SF.

Have tried to compare to other Psilocybe Cyanescens pictures in this thread, but I can't pick out any purple/blue - they look so close though.

After a little digging, most likely Tubaria furfuracea - but would love some help to confirm.

------------------------
Found: Woodchips by base of a tree.

Diameter: 1-2.5 Inches
Stem Length: 1-2.5 Inches

Pics are after a couple hours drying on a sunny table.

Those are Agrocybe, either A. putaminum or A. praecox.  Either way they are edible, but unfortunately completely devoid of hallucinogenic drugs.

Please start a new thread for ID requests, as this thread is for confirmed actives.

Xerbia did you ever try out more gyms?

Also rains in the Bay in the next few days- here's to hoping someone finds a May cyan

I feel it is unlikely that this stretch of wet weather we have coming will cause any cyans or allenii to fruit, it's been quite warm and dry for a while now and this rain won't be all that cold, cyans & allenii usually need cooler weather.

But be on the look out for ovoids....they're not too common around the area but it's what I would be looking for after this stretch of wet weather we have coming, I know they pop up through spring but not sure on the ideal window of time for nor-cal.
