Hi all,

Very good to see the start of the season! Any ideas as to why its started so soon? I started to see non-actives popping up about a week ago and was thinking isn't this a bit early? I thought actives were supposed to pop up April/May so this seems strange.

Honestly no clue. The temps where I am are wayyyy too high for fruit, yet I’m getting them. Just an anomaly of fruits?
My temps are still 14oc lows and 20oc highs? Lots of humidity and wet though?

The mushrooms will appear when favourable conditions arrive. They don't work by calendars.

Figured I’d sample the new season fresh.

Taken about 5mins ago.
Not expecting much with three fresh subs...but have been surprised in the past.... who knows 🥳🙌

Here in the northern hemisphere (UK and Ireland) I've also noticed that fungi that normally only appear in April/May, have already been popping up, but we've had a very mild winter. But it's not just fungi; I've noticed flowering plants have been blooming about a month or so early and already beginning to wilt. So to see them fruit a month or so either way isn't surprising to me and is neither here nor there.

Went to clean up the rest of the flush this morning and left the pins
to go full circle or for someone else to pick.

That ground cover must provide an ideal micro climate.

If you introduced it to your property it's not 100% natural:shrug:

Lol well...yes it is...but I mean, now were just arguing for arguments sake.

An introduced species can become naturalized after it becomes established. If you start finding it in the surrounding areas outside of where you introduced it, then they are considered naturalized, if they require humans to spread them around then they are still considered introduced,  only when they spread out on their own are they considered naturalized to an area. At least this is my understanding.

I would argue, that everything is in some way or another “ introduced”.
Nature will always find away.
For instance, fruit and berries having seeds that are invested and spread through the consumption and deposits of animals.
Wind is another means of distribution of species.
How about those shitty little things that lock onto your hairs in the bush?
Psilocybin mushrooms work on the same level as fruit or vegetables.
They are a food or asset to its target species (humans)....so they are AIDED in spreading by the collection of fruits, cultivation etc.
just because I’m a human, does that take away that the introduction of this to my garden was natural?
I dunno. Seems all kinda like natures way if you ask me.

Got some pins coming through in the sub-tub I put down 2 years ago, looks like they could be non-actives though -_- A few big non-actives growing in the driveway so next rain we might be away down here in chch. Would be nice to have an early start to the season.

Gently scrape the stem,  if it bruises blue, you know it is active.

Is this the first time that it has fruited since you spawned it?
