So ms to grain and to LC work as well is it good to tell people to do it ? Growing in 100 degree temps work but do we go around telling people thats how we should do things ??? Or growing in the dark ?

I guess what I'm trying to say is if that's proper advice or not because in my opinion it isnt there is no reason to submerge that much of the jar to cook with period ...

Oohhhhhh my gooooood this whole time I thought pressure had something to do with it as well ?? So you're telling me if I put a jar in the oven and allowed it to get to 250degrees it will work?? Well fuck i suppose I spent all this money on pressure cookers for no reason I guess I'm an idiot for buying pressure cookers and not an oven

That’s the difference between moist heat and dry heat.

A convection oven, running at 250 degrees for 90 minutes, will heat air and use it to cook a steak well done, but that’s only like 175-180 degrees in the center.  Not sufficient for our purposes.

The replacement of air (a poor heat conductor) inside of the canner with water vapor (good heat conductor) increases conduction of heat from the water to the jar and raises the center temp of the jar to 250 for a long enough period of time to kill most of the bacteria and sundry other microorganisms inside.

The biggest worry about using a pressure cooker is to add too little water, and to have it boil dry.

I suppose if you're cooking artichoke or making pickles ?

We should call emeril and see what he says ... fact is we need steam not boiling water ... using soooooo much water is going against the grain ... if you need that much water you aren't cooking properly plain and simple...

Bodhi I understand its not pastuerizing... but it's not sterilizing either ... what happens when we pastueriz horse shit ? We are making a long enough window for the myc to gain control same with grain ... so I guess I should say we are partially sterilizing ??

This is the stupidest thing I've read today. Pressure and temperature will be the same if you add more water. Water will boil at higher temps because the steam doesn't have anywhere to escape. I always opt on the side of too much instead of too little water. If the water boils off, you ruined your spawn and possibly also your PC. If there's too much, the worst thing that can happen is you'll have to throw your spawn because the water entered your jars.

I'll agree with that I put water 3/4 up my jars. I also do extented vent times. I've never been worried about running dry every.

Ok well let's just dunk the jars completely under water and do a 24 hour PC run... all the excess water is fine it will boil off let's start telling people hey you know theres a good chance that if you do agar work in open air there is a small chance of you getting clean growth ... because hey I saw a couple people say they did it ..

If anything like bodhi said raise the jars out of the water I dont agree and wont that putting water that far up the jars is proper ... if you use your PC properly you wont run dry why take a risk of soaking your grain when that's the most important part of the process ???

That's probably why all these noobs have water logged grain from them putting 2 gallons of water in the PC I put 1 qt and probably have a half qt if not more in my PC after 2 hours

Water wont get in the jar unless they're nearly submerged. 3/4 up side is fine. That's about where you'll be with 10 jars in a presto and nearly 3q of water.
