Yea, when I do transfers I do it like that, red hot, slice scoop and transfer.
I wasn't saying anyone was wrong for scraping spores with a blade. Just saying I like swabs. why did everyone get their panties in a bunch? I'm not trying to send u guys swabs lol

I don't like the swab idea unless it's for species that have lost the ability to forcefully eject spores but I guess it might be a good way to divide a single print into many smaller portions for distribution purposes I cool my blade in the receiving dish and don't get contamination but all of my tools are sterile and I work in a Laminar Flow Hood. The best thing for everyone to do is to keep doing what works

Yeah I made the swabs to be able to share my print with other people. They are sterilized. Swapped the print, not the mushrooms. Might not be the most efficient thing to do, but I wanna give it a try.
Got a marketplace thread for anyone interested.

Would this be the same as The ATL#7 strain?

I believe ATL#7 is one of the only different stone producers and that mex/tamp/galindoi/ect... are synonymous with one another

ATL#7 is suspected to be an isolate of Tampanensis, which is a variety of Psilocybe Mexicana. As I've heard, there will soon be DNA tests to confirm this.

Close. Tampanensis is a species, not variety of mexicana based on sequencing(based on Alan Sequencing Atlantis) as I understand it. ATL7 is probably Tampanensis based on the morphology, but still lacking DNA Sequencing Confirmation. I've been corrected before thinking ATL7 was sequenced, but I'm pretty confident I got it straight now.

So this is neither ATL#7 or tamps? Is it the Mexicana A?

I think galindoi is one that's more likely to be Tampanensis, but I'm not as solid on that. I lean that way because I'm pretty sure I've seen Alan say the Galindoi amoungst growers is most likely the same thing as the ATL7, but True Galindoi is another species not commonly circulated. Plus it makes large stones and has cap formation/color like a Tampanensis seems to.

best of my understanding, this is mexicana, variety galindoi. print came from deutschland.
was told, atl7 is thought to be tampanensis. in general, tamps make larger stones, mexicana makes smaller stones. based on how my jars look, observation confirms i'm growing mexicana. many smaller stones. i'll post more fotos in the stones thread sometime soon. i'm about to case a tray of this stuff, and will hopefully be able to share pictures of the fruit soon as well.
anyway, for now i give up knowing for sure. near as i can find, tamps and mex are cultivated the same. i got jars growing stones. life is good.

How long was is fully colonized? May take a month or two after colonizing for them to get large. Plus, sometimes stones look a little small, then you fish out what you can't see and pull out some rocks.
Since we're talkin stones, here's last of my MS ATL7 harvest from today. Couple clones put to grains recently, trying to find a winner.

hm, interesting. let's see, my record keeping isn't what it should be for things like when jars get to 100%. that foto is a week old and is of the oldest two jars, noc'd 1/26. other six jars, noc'd 2/2, showed no stone formation last week. they now look like that foto. confusing, right?
so i'm saying full colonization was reached around 2/23 and stones showed a week later.
oh right, this is the fotos thread.... hang on, i'll get current fotos of the lot.
... here we are.

I'd say those APE are ready now. I try to pick them just before the stipe starts turning blue.

Well it turns out it wasn't PE. Just a mislabeled tub. It's pesh..that's why I had no blobs
I have a minimono of PE with a 50/50 casing that is defintiely PE and just starting to show some normal looking pins but we'll see. Might just be a blob factory
Mislabeled pesh tub labeled PE...still a decent flush

Golden teacher spawned 1:1...has quite a few weird mutants and blobby things

Pf Classic shoebox flush 2, forgot about this one so a bit late harvesting

Pesh mono that has trich...I think it'll make it so I can harvest this flush before I toss it. It has barely spread since being salted
