I'm not even sure anything has changed. Sure, cutting off your dick and transitioning is relatively new as far as accepted American culture type thing but we've always had mobs and struggle sessions and etc. People battling to change what 'society' thinks.

The only thing worth discussing, seems to me, is the human activity around the social acceptance of it in the internet age what with the "mobs" of people online defending the push to make trangenderism more acceptable.

I dunno. Just conceal carry and who cares what people think of you?

Does anyone want anyone else telling them what they can do with their bodies?

If you’re anything like me then you don’t. But, it’s your God giving right as an American to hate me for whatever it is that you don’t like. I’m ok with that

I would like to see us progress as a society but the reality is, I don’t think we can. So we continue to hate and trolll one another

That’s pretty much the way I see things. I’m ok with it all

I want to be not so cynical but the way the world is, I’m not able to atm

One of the neatest, most badass ergi (norse-shamanic trans) I've known of - is Raven Kaldera's who runs this Northern Shamanism site that is insanely informative - if you're into that kind of thing.

http://www.northernshamanism.org/welcome.html

Somewhere on there is their tale of transformation;... which super summarized tells a tale of essentially upon engaging in their shamanist practice as a last resort to heal themselves from a slew of undiagnosed debilitating health issues -

at the time of embarkment on this journey - fully identifying as a female - they came in contact with the goddess Hel - who claimed... essentially that their soul completely belonged to her; and furthermore to be healed and to enter full service to said goddess, she had to become a man  (laughing because of the sheer absurdity of it all..) Which they did do - and became immediately vital and healthy afterwards...

And as far out there as this may sound, my veracity as to their genuine nature comes in the level of teachings, insights, and shamanic techniques they've shared - I've utilized some of them for years - astral projected, and used other techniques to view and travel to the specific realms they mention; and saw them very much as they describe them (notably Ljossalfheim - I ain't fucking with frost giants or fire giants  light elves will be enough thank you) - I mean you'll never know quite if these are projected internal hallucinations - or what - but they feel, look, and interact incredibly real to me - so that's enough. And it's just straight up fucking cool still if it is an 'illusion'.

Great source of knowledge on all things shamanism, herbalism, and rune related... and as far as I know, probably -the- expert on Ergi/trans in northern shamanism & some other spirit practices.

Serious badass :awesome:

I used to get massages a lot, particularly when I was tripping.  I absolutely love massages while deep into a trip. I was in Cleveland a few years ago and set up a massage, dropped two hits of acid and an E tab.  So, I'm about 2.5 hours into the trip when the massage therapist arrives.  It's about 11:30 at night, so it's a craigslist ad that I find her on.  She looks pretty cool and hot in the pic she has posted, and I'm not on the rub-and-tug section of the website.  I find her on the legit "massage therapists" listings.  Anyhow, I figured she'd be somewhat sketch in that she was willing to come so late and give a 2 hour massage for $120.  Anyhow, she shows up and I'm tripping but I'm pretty sure she was just a really feminine looking guy who had gone completely fem.  But I was also tripping, so I thought maybe that was all it was.  She gave me a fantastic massage. So the next day I checked out her ad again and did a little stalking and learned she was indeed a he.

I could give a rat's ass less what gender anyone decides to call him/her self. But in this case the therapist sold his services as a female.  That wasn't right.  You can tell yourself whatever you want, but do me a favor and don't lie to me.

Personal identification is a tricky one, especially when those identities don't match other peoples norms.

When I've lived in places with unisex toilets I've found this sort of problematic sociology much less prevalent. Still, people have expectations and get all put out when they are not met. That's kinda normal, especially with younger folks.

If the sex change can guarantee that the person will look indistinguishable from a biological male/female, I say go for it.

But most trans surgeries I've seen, especially male to female, just end with the male still looking like a male but with tits and long hair. Then they expect society to expect them as real females but guys aren't attracted to them and women don't see them as females.... so they end up depressed and wonder why they're not accepted and why people look at them funny.

I think the men whose surgery ends with them looking like actual women (and it happens, but its rare) end up with much healthier results.

my whole comment is going to be through the lens of mtf, just as a disclaimer
but, as you noted, passing as mtf is often more difficult than ftm

can respect where you are coming from in terms of individuals expecting to fit ("pass") within society
unfortunately, this is a really loaded metric to use

foremost, bottom surgery would be chosen for myself and not for anyone else
having a pussy does not mean my wandering around showing it to everyone to authentic my female status
and really only the strangely inquisitive or people attempting to sexualize me will worry about what is in my pants

the actual outward appearance shifts are the result of hormone therapy and other surgeries
too pronounced of an Adam's Apple? There is a separate surgery to shave it down to look like a normal throat
similar with facial reconstructive surgeries aimed at feminization

so the initial issue presented by this view is that it basically only validates rich transwomen who can afford more surgeries
which, in turn, promotes a culture of transwomen engaging in sex work to try and gather up the necessary funds for various surgeries

the larger issue, to me, is a lack of wanting to see this mentality become the main basis for assessment
because it also encourages pursuit of puberty blockers
do not personally agree with the use of puberty blockers; puberty was hell and the impacts it had on my body mean more 'work' to pass
but not personally comfortable with underage medical transitions -- if a kid identifies as trans that is fine; however, medical intervention should be limited to 18+ unless absolutely necessary

the largest impact on outward appearance is a matter of how hard puberty hit an individual and how long it had to set in
someone who begins transitioning at 30 takes longer for their appearance to alter through hormones than someone who starts taking hormones at 18
which makes kids try and push for hormone therapy before puberty can fully impact them

as an inconsequential aside
am also among the generation that grew up with all sorts of growth hormones being injected into my meats
and eating way too much mcdonalds in my preteen and teen years may have resulted in foreign hormones exacerbating some of the effects of puberty
:cookiemonster:
so it is at least nice to know there has been a push towards raising cleaner meats that may mean transteens taking less of a hit from the process of puberty

That sounds really expensive and I’m sure people in transition would love to look better but don’t have the funds to make themselves as pretty or handsome as you’d like them to be.

Reality is often different then what we’d like it to be. It is for me anyway

I also think some people are greedy motherfuckers and could make surgeries more affordable to more people.
