Honest opinion about weed...i need answers

So this huge weed smoker I know basically just called me out saying I must not know about weed and don't smoke a lot and blah blah blah(despite smoking weed heavily for over 12 years) over an opinion I have.

So I said that...i never understood the people who claim they can tell distinct differences in weed highs between strains. Like when people say things like "the OG kush makes me social while the grand daddy purp helps pain"

I never understood this. For me, all weed highs are the same. Even when it comes to sativa and indica, it's all the same exact high and I couldn't tell the difference in a blind test

What's your opinion on the subject?

They are so into these damn strains..they treat it like rocket science. I honestly offended this weed connisueor by saying I can't tell the difference between strains.

They are getting to be more annoying than those vape nerds.

It all comes down to the terpenes man, maybe some Cannabinoid ratio differences, but mainly terpenes. Many strains share the same terpenes, but some have some terpenes in different amounts. There are definitely differences between some of the strains ime. Sure they all feel similar but some people are more noticing of small differences in things, myself included. I personally like Limonene and the Cholinergic Alpha-Pinene, reduces the memory issues and anxiety/paranoia, makes it all feel more sativa-ish, like a high rather than stone, and is pretty clear headed, at least when the terpenes are consumed orally.

I think the only difference ive ever been able to tell is between a really strong sindica or really strong sativa. The former making me more tired than the ladder.

I understand but what I am asking is if you can tell the difference between 2 strains of flower with the exact same thc% and cbd% and all that, the only difference being the strain itself


Indica and sativa make me feel exactly the same. The only way I can tell a difference in weed is by how many hits of it I take. It all takes me to this vulnerable but curious and interesting space. It's not like one type doesn't cause anxiety while another does. It's all the same for me.

Sativa will give you a head high. Indica will give you more of the sedative. The thc to CBD ratios are vital. Hybrids are very common and would be harder to discern.

  Although there is a difference this guy sounds like a complete ass hole.

  Do you buy from the streets or a legal vendor? I suggest you get some pure indica and pure sativa and try that out. You should notice the couch lock of sativa. I perfer the indica myself.

Also, the high can't change too much either. It is all generally the same chemicals in various ratios.

IMHO, I’m in the middle ground between his opinion and your opinion. there are definitely some differences, different strains make me feel different for sure but more often the differences are just heightened by my psychological state of mind st the time and according to the dose of course. It’s also not as atypical as those weed heads that get caught up in all the various stupid names of different strains and trying to prescribe it for certain things.

The scenario you present does not exist. No two plants are the same. Each go on their journey and producewhat they will.

I buy cartridges from a guy. I don't smoke flower anymore, there's just too many disadvantages when you have a child so I only go with cartridges.

I actually do have a pure sativa, pure indica, and a hybrid cartridge. I try to realize a difference when I smoke them but it's all just the same weed high.

I think I noticed the indica giving me a body high more so than the others but all weed makes me couch locked and wanting to chill and then eat. And maybe sleep. It's not like a sativa will have me around the house doing dishes and cleaning..the sativa also couch locks me. I think may be because I don't have a tolerance that I just get so high I can't tell the difference...i dont know..

But yeah this dude is always posting his edibles and all his exotic weed and cartridges online talking about different strains. I asked him the wuestion and he made me feel like an idiot with his weed science on different strains.

I just don't get it

That's different. Nobody claims PE and PE Uncut gives different experiences. We just claim that PE is more potent...which it is.

Well then let's say there's 2 flowers with very similar properties. I can't tell the difference in the high between them or indica and sativa. I either get kind of high, stoned, or severely stoned where I need to pass out to combat the negative thoughts. I like the middle ground.

But it's never like "oh smoke that sour diesel and it will help pain and then smoke the purple haze if you want a cerebral energetic high" and things like that

Yeah, there are no claims beyond potency. But yeah, they can get ridiculous too. It's just not part of pop culture if it was you'd see the same thing I'm sure.


About tolerance, if you have no tolerance then you might be just blasting off on any weed. Makes sense.

  When I do extracts I get sleepy as fuck no matter the strain, but I do actually clean with sativa lol can't help it. My mind starts going about the filth. Even if it's just a few dishes. I think it doesn't matter. Weed is enjoyed either way.

I notice differences in weeds.

Some strains (sativa mostly) make me creative & active, almost like a stimulant. It's hard for me to fall asleep with a strong sativa.
Indica dominant strains make me sleepy and calm, almost like a sedativum. I prefered indica strains to calm me down in the evening (indica = "in-the-couch"), and sativa to get "high" in a more psychedelic way.

In the end, the highs are pretty similar mentally. But the effects on the body is noticably different for me (sleepy versus active).
