I forgot to add; is there anything that I can buy in Walmart or dollar store which will substitute an inoculation loop? I’ve got several things on the way from amazon and I don’t really wanna order another item, I shouldn’t have forgot to add it to my cart, lol.

Dollar General has something that works for an inoculation loop...look in the make-up section. Has a loop at each end. Costs like $1, holds up good to flame sterilization.

So I made a makeshift mini SGFC, caught some flak for it on another forum by a very knowledgeable guy. I deleted the thread cause they kinda jumped on me. I didn’t take it personal because he knows what he’s talking about and he’s probably right.

However, I have tiny 4 ounce baby cakes and I’m not really concerned if the makeshift mini didn’t work, I’m more concerned about learning agar, grain and other techniques. PF Tek has been a huge help learning how to follow teks and sterile technique however.

Anyways, I have pins forming on my cakes...big screw you to the know it all saying it wouldn’t work. I knew it would. I do agree with them though, if I had tried to perfect a nice SGFC it would probably yield more. I’m not concerned about yield from this PF Tek. It’s just a learning g experience for me and I’d rather make mistakes now than on larger or more serious grows.

Ive found that using as much perlite as you can in any container, even minis, helps fruiting performance.

That was probably my biggest mistake is I would use more perlite next time.

I still have cakes coming out like this one which created this fetching little buddy.
He popped off under my rinsing so I guess I’ll just chomp him down.

Aboutten days ago I inoculated some agarplates and I’ve seen NO growth except for this one plate which is white and super fluffy, it looks like mold.

Mold?

I’m pretty sure I just want a second opinion so I can toss it.

I’m getting pissed, I couldn’t find a dehydrator at Walmart a week ago and I haven’t had time to look since I got a new job...now I can’t dry these mushrooms, the fan is just not working, I cut them into smaller pieces and they’re still not cracker dry. I was going to grind them into a powder and let them dry that way but I have plans with family and can’t get out of it so probably now gonna end up with shitrooms...ugh life.

Make tea, freeze it till you need. 35 grams wet = 3.5 grams dry.

cutting them into pieces means more surface area to oxidize and more potency can be lost. powdering shrooms is ... 'optional' and uh.. i would never ever do it.

you need heat and moving air. get creative instead of blaming circumstance.

I powder when making tea or capsules, but not before. We had a discussion about this on another thread, but I think it's safe to say that powdering, if anything, has a negative effect on potency coupled with storage duration

Use a lamp with an incandescent bulb, and dry using light/mild heat. Takes about 24hrs but it works. Its what i use currently.

I took a salt rock wax burner, put a bandana around the mushrooms and put them on top above the light. I think this will work and if it doesn’t no harm no foul. In the name of science. I’m gonna get a dehydrator, vacccum sealer and scale ASAP though. Lol
