Will you take a bunch of spore prints from that grow? I would like one if possible, but if not, please take a bunch of spore prints. Crossing those with domesticated spores would be excellent and is an undertaking I'd love to perform in the future.

Is it old info to fully colonise PE varieties and then add a casing layer to avoid blobs or just go with the flow.  Ive also been reading up that star is a substrate they like and would like to know anyones experience  of this.

Hey man, me being a substrate the dicks like was just a nasty rumor, alright? JUST A NASTY RUMOR! We haven't narrowed down what avoids blobs, but that's what was always told to me.

space,

Thanks a lot, dude. I'll definitely spread those spores!

For those with glasses, do you find that you feel the need to take them off when you're taking mushrooms? I always hit a point where I feel like they need to come off. Don't know why, I don't see better, but there's something about the obstruction they cause that gets to me I think.

Sometimes I take them off but I always end up putting them back on later at a lighter point.

Lid should fit correctly, but steam should still escape(may need top up on water)

Think it's 90-120 minutes. Ziran's pf tek will have it for sure.

only takes one to keep off water drips.

You want it in proportion.

little dry > too wet

As Lt said, but I just want to point out for future clarity, you're not Pressure Cooking with a regular pot. You're steaming them. You need a pressure cooker to do pressure cooking.

How do you guys prefer to inoculate your masters?
I wanna go from WBS pint masters and G2G to 5 quarts oats, but am going back and forth on either using a LI or agar to grain...suggestions?
Ive got a good guess on timetable with LI -> G2G but how much longer is added going A2G -> G2G?

:otd:

Stick to agar to grain and g2g. Liquids can and will bite you in the ass quick.

Do whatever is most comfortable for you. If you're comfortable with LI, I vote that. It's my preferred choice to inoculate masters before G2G expansion. A2G is agonizingly slow for me so I've never really done it. But for some, the added vector of LI isn't worth it.

Or just learn how to use liquids properly and have faith in your sterile work. A single agar wedge into 120ml of sterilized water can noc up 10-15 quarts. That's as big of a bite as you're allowing it to take out of you. Or a single plate to a single jar and a snail's pace to colonize.

Both methods are fine, but liquids aren't going to ruin your life unless you're making 380752376 LC's and going to grains without testing and knowing basic sterile procedure.

Thanks guys, Ive used LI mainly and with success
I actually decided to go WBS to oats from a comment you've made before Stare, so I appreciate the feedback.

Right on, Camera. I mix together WBS and oats for my masters quite often. A ratio of 1.6:1 in favor of the WBS is a nice blend. I also strain out the corn and seeds from my WBS ahead of time so I'm only dealing with the nice, tiny grains. Drilling a bunch of holes in a 5 gallon bucket makes separating them a breeze. Cheers.

My understanding is that A2G can take between 7-30 days depending on several variables such as culture size, culture speed, shaking/not shaking(s), agar thickness/breakup and redistribution of culture, temperature etc...

All my current cultures are on 0.5%agar agar. I'll document everything this time.

I think its important for us to give advice around other's requirements. if speed is important he should use a liquid, but if it's more important for it to work then he shouldn't.  don't let your love for liquids allow you to advise someone who may not be able to pull them off.  it takes more than having faith in your work and knowing basic sterile procedure for liquids to work.  it takes the cleanest culture and utmost cleanest procedure
