Bear mountain soft wood pellets.

The plan was find straw and grow oysters.
Can’t find straw in these parts unless I get a few bales.
So I’m going with fuel pellets
I have all sorts of feed and hardware stores. All the carry is bear mountain brand softwood fuel pellet.
Would this be appropriate for oysters ,lions mane ect. ?

I used to grow 10+ edible species on softwood pellets quite successfully. If they are the only substrate you can get, they'll be good enough.

Sweet. I was gonna pour boiling water in spawn bags on top of the pellets.
6 cups to 6 cups. Maybe the ratio is different on softwood pellets.
I’m gonna have to run a few tests.

The way I used to do it, I'd measure the amount of pellets and water by weight, put the pellets into a large plastic box, throw a handful of gypsum and pour boiling water over them. Then I'd close the lid and leave for 24 hours to cool. After that, I'd just transfer the sawdust into a freezer bag, in open air, add spawn, and shake. Never had a contam.
Your way is better, just do a few tests beforehand to see exactly how much water you need.
