"Depends "

I've seen people debate this for years and it's always interested me since I joined. You isolated 12 strains from a clone and fruited them? Where at?!

Edit: After searching through your posts to try and find it, all I can find is like 15 instances of you repeatedly saying this 11/12 shit, lol. What a super odd ratio to proclaim. And then a few mentioning RR says it and your experience backs it? Well, how much better was the single isolated strain than the others? If you got one to outperform the original, you still have it slanted, I presume?

And running this test a single time wouldn't be concrete evidence of anything anyway; sample size is hugely important. You've carried this task out by yourself how many times to declare it a waste of time? The clone you worked on couldn't just have such a makeup to give this 11/12 figure? You didn't even mention any yields either. There's plenty of variance involved even if you had true isolates, especially with a new grower still Did some just do nothing?

7 Jars going.. 2 peurto rican, 2 GT, 3 PE6... Changed my Agar recipe.. i think i was making it WAY too stiff.. it was taking like 6 weeks to get decent growth on agar and it was thin and wispy myc.. switched to a much softer recipe and jesus.. 7 days in and plates were great with nice white thick myc, very happy

I also switched from brf back to PDA, but i think the stiffness was the bigger factor.

:waitwut:

You got a hard on for me or what?
:kittylaugh:

I read RR's notes (as most of us do starting out), which suspicion confirmed, based on one test run yes: currently running secondary tests on slanted PE6 cultures that have been neglected on agar, and poorly recorded... the original has outperformed the 4 I've tested again, again... I don't document everything I do, though I guess I need to in order to maintain any sort of validity in your eyes...  May just quit posting all together to avoid any of it: all I do is try to be helpful and contribute back to the comminity... I don't need an inquisition everytime I post something, and the shit's getting old... did you search RR's threads? Do you do this with everyone, I mean... ?

I took a clone,  3 transfers out, took 3 transfers, took 4 transfers in different sectors from each of these 3 plates... if they weren't isolated strains,  they were real close, no longer displaying sectors, and were falling short regardless: continuing to work with them seemed moot... I only kept 6, I've tested 4 again, 2 of which I'm convince are the same isolate, as the fruit are short, and crazy dense...

I guess I should journal everything, but I'm more interested in other's grows,  and information that hasn't already been documented by well known trusted cultivators... your disapproval is certainly upsetting (sincerely, don't read sarcasm into that statement)

You can isolate a clone in that few transfers? Verum was transferring hundreds of times wasnt he?
Caps you speak in a lot of absolute terms avoiding nuance and lack proof often. You cant do that with an autisticallyndetailed  motherfucker who documents everything and has a photographic memory of the communities knowledge like stare. (No offense stare).

Wut:closecall:

That sounds terrible. I could barely keep up with 12. I'll stick to shoeboxes for the rest of my growing days. Haven't let me down:gombypls:

I just go by the rule of 3; 3 transfers and into grain it goes. Works for me. I like keeping it short, sweet & simple.

I think we're very similar and clash... idk... whatever it is... and isolated strains or not, they were no longer performing... some were agar pins of agar pins of agar pins... which I would think to aid in isolation as well... Either or, I respect stare... it's whatever I suppose

What do you think perfect field capacity of a brick of coir is? 3 quarts? 4 quarts? What is your perfect amount without having to add or subtract any water?

any tips for prepping WBS to be inoculated with LI?
Im worried using FooMans tek of steeping and loading wet will leave me on the higher side for moisture, which will only be made worse from me pouring over.
maybe this is just overthinking, and if done correctly FooMans tek should leave me with grain ready to use regardless of inoculant ?

I fill 3 wide mouth quarts to the brim and start them on the stove... takes me about 10 minutes or so to bust the brick up, so might be as little as 2.75qts... I've weighed the last several "650g" bricks to weigh between 670 and 680: though ive only photographed one of them

I also like  (in a time crunch) to add only 2qts initially, allow it to sit for an hour, and then adjust upward with cold tap water for immediate use...

I used to cook WBS with decent results... uber important to rinse thoroughly though IME

I use about 3.2qts per brick of eco earth.
3 qts filled to the ring of the jar(not brim)and one just at the 200ml mark on my ball qts.
I haven't weighed my coir bricks in months, and it comes out just right(for me) every time.

I aim for 5L per kg of coir, but do slightly less. So that'll be 3.5L per 650g brick.
