I did not feel like rewriting everything and so apologize for just putting a link to my thread in the just starting forum.

It is about my bulk seeming to be stalling in its growth.

I've  read your thread. Gas exchange would be a concern. Filter bags we use leave a pretty large air space in the top of the bag. If air is a problem and these are oysters you could go up into the colonized area of the bag and take a fork and punch around the bag( like 8 even spaced pokes) Im talking about just above the uncolonized area. That way you wont contaminate the hopefully sterile area. It very well could be bäcterial, usually the mycelium will thicken where they fight each other. Your bag is really full to try mixing now and even when you spawned it.

The mycelium is very thick at the top of the bag.  It could be contam.  I thought about making the bags longer to give even more space to manipulate the stuff inside but I am a cheapskate and thought I was getting it done.  It is already tall for the sab and I have to turn it sideways to pour the spawn in. 

This may sound crazy but I wonder if I poked those holes and then wrapped with suran wrap, if that would breathe?  I know they use it on petri dishes and it supposedly breathes. 

I am thinking of mixing the one with the smallest amount of colonization, just to see.  Bad ideal?  The bag does have about 3 or 4 inches of head room above the substrate.  That was just barely enough to get it to mix when spawning.

I have some plastic medical tape I could put on the holes if that would help.

Or I could leave them open just above the colonized area.  I still need to figure out how to do better but would not mind some effort of trying to get something from these bags.  Not the end of the world if I don't but I also don't know how to fix it going further.

Thank you for taking the time to try and help.  These bags that still have no green in them are all king oyster.

If you poke holes in the colonized part you can just leave them open. Once colonized they will resist contaminates. Use a clean fork, alcohol wiped. That is all i would do for now. See if that allows some growth. Use a sharpie and mark where mycelium is now so your not guessing.

Yes kings like to fruit from the surface. It will thicken on top. Perfectly normal.

What is the temp where you have these bags?

It is about 71 degrees where I keep them.  I did put one in my furnace room that is about 80 degrees for two days but did not see improvement.  I also layed them on thier side for two days just to make sure of my water content.  I am pretty sure it is not too wet but not positive it is not too dry.

I went ahead and mixed three of them up real good and am going to put holes in my best looking one.  It still has a few white spots down in the bag.  I had put a few sharpy marks on the bags the last few days and not seen movement.  I am not sure how I felt about the ones I broke up.  It seemed to me like they broke up pretty easy.  I had read just recently that if they were not clumped together pretty hard that that was a sign of contamination.  So now it will take a few days to see if they try and grow back. This is my first time and so I am not confident that I translate my reading to what I actually am seeing cause I have no bases to judge from. 

You are almost my neighbor cause I am in MO. The sawdust almost feels dry as it can be shook pretty easy once you squeeze it a little.  Time will tell.  I am going to have to make more after I see for a few days what the holes do for me.

80 is to hot, room temp is good.

Ive got kings pinning now. I understand the pressure,  my wife thought i was crazy too. Once you get going you can have more mushrooms than you can imagine.

Yeah I live about an hour sw of St Louis. Let me know how you get along.

I am about 70 miles west of st louis.  I will try and remember to tell what happened with the advice.  No promises cause this takes awhile and the threads get lost on here if you forget the name of it.  My wife is much neater then me and could think of many things that she would like me to do better.  If however I can actually end up with mushrooms some day, she will like those too.
Thanks for the help and I will try not to abuse you with too much newbie stuff.
