Lol that’s a pathetic point of view. “It wasn’t their fault, they wouldn’t have killed a woman if women hadn’t shown up.”

Nice strawman, nobody is making that claim. The point is that bad people were on both sides and were looking for violent confrontations. The "anti-protesters" initiated most of the violent confrontations, the MSM would never report that fact.

There was only murderous intentions on one side though correct?

By just one person out of hundreds if not thousands of protesters, correct?

According to xul white nationalists are just nice guys that don't want to see brown or black skinned folk around anymore.  Apparently that has nothing to do with white supremacy.

Or they're looking out for the interests of white people just like every other race and ethnic organization does for their own, correct?

Acknowledging that there was violence initiated by both sides isn't a fantasy, it's a fact. Also, that acknowledgement isn't being apologetic for violent acts.

Are you saying that not a single genuine protester - for example someone who would prefer to leave the statue as a reminder of the painful past - was there? What research have you done to arrive at this conclusion? Please be specific

Is that a serious question?

it is actually an interesting question to consider
what if the crowd was all white supremacists, except 1 single genuine protester, and 1 crazy maniac with murderous intentions

It was a white supramacist rally. I can’t tell you the personal motivations of the protesters on that side, but if you are supporting the cause then you are not a good person.

Ok ... so ... having previously claimed they were all white supremacist, now you are saying you don't know their personal motivations. This is quite a back-down, don't you think?

I am supporting the cause of common sense - the one you have just joined by saying that we don't know personal motivation of other people. Now you just need to take it a step further and ask yourself the following question:

"Is it possible that there were some people who turned up to protest the removal the historic statue in Ch, for personal reasons which are acceptable in the context of a public debate in a free society. Like, you know - fine people?"

Or, even more likely, the usual diverse mix of motivations. Some genuine white supremacists, some random anarchists, some selfie hunters and with a sprinkling of people who simply did not want to see the statue removed, for reasons like:

  • they think that we should leave statues in place as a record of history, including its painful episodes
  • they kissed their first sweetheart under it in 1937
  • the guy on the horse looks cool - who is he, actually?

If any of those things are your personal motivation, you don’t demonstrate those opinions by participating in a white supremacist rally.

Maybe they simply did not want the statue removed and, since the march was not advertised as a white supremacists rally, they just tagged along? We have now established that you don't know people's personal motivations so how can you be sure that was not the case?

This is a serious question

It’s not a serious question because any serious person who just wanted to keep a historical statue would have had nothing to do with that rally

when you mentioned "random anarchists" were you implying the other side that was there to legitimately counter-protest?

or are you presenting the position that anarchsits, selfie hunters, and people with various reasons to not want to see the statue removed could also be white supremacists due to classifications not being mutually exclusive?

If you mean there was a third group who did not align with the values of either rallied side
why would they stand with either side rather than independent of them?

The actions and words of the rally organizers and participants were unambiguously white supremacist.

This event was not advertised as a white supremacist rally and some people who attended were not white supremacists. How do I know?

Scott Adams talked to one of them on his periscope podcast. A Jewish dude went with his family to march in support of leaving the statue in place, had no idea the neo-nazis would turn up, was horrified when they did. He sounded like a fine person.

Also, the day after the carnage there was a media clip of a short chat with someone who had attended. Same thing - liked the statue, wanted to keep it, did not know that violent idiots would turn up.

Did either example proceed to rally alongside the white supremacists, giving cause for Trump to argue they were the "fine people" on that side
or were they so horrified by the presence of violent neo-nazis that they did not side with them, meaning such "fine people" were not on the white supremacists' side after all?
