The machines print a paper trail. The paper trail can be verified by each voter if they like. The digital count has to match the paper count. The main advantage of the digital count is that you can get votes counted and reported much faster, meanwhile the paper record is much more secure.

It’s pretty straightforward when you think about it.

OK, since I'm assuming the paper count matched the digital count, there's no point of examining the software of the machines. Would that be a correct assessment?

I'm not sure thats just the first story about it that popped up. Might be that since they pushed so hard in georgia thwy might be the only ones who did that kind of investigating? Would it fall on trumps team to pay for investigators to dig up the evidence?

Georgia did a hand recount anyway, and it was consistent with the machines so we know the machines didn't have any rigging in Georgia.

There are lots of good reasons for examining voting software anyway, and it's actually pretty fucked up (in my opinion) that the US relies on private companies to provide voting software using proprietary software (including software that has a Trump trademark), instead of a publicly maintained open source software where anybody can go look at the source code and expose any possible flaws or exploits.

None of that is related to fraud, however. The software should be inspected, but from the perspective of open and verifiable elections in the future, not from the perspective of possible fraud when the paper counts match.

I think they're claiming they're not given access to investigate the machines. I don't know if there's truth to that claim or not.

Well, I think Georgia did the right thing and proved the Trump team wrong. I suggest other states should do the same so there's no more bitching about it. Probably not a bad idea. And they should charge trump for it if the results show no tampering....honestly he should have to pay for either way. He has billions right? Shouldn't be more than a speed bump for ole moneybags.

That's not how conspiracies work. If you present evidence disproving a conspiracy theory to a conspiracy theorist, they are more likely to believe in the truth of the conspiracy. After all, why else would you be trying so hard to prove it false?

I think the correct course of action is just to openly laugh at and mock anyone still questioning results.

Sidney Powell is assembling, in her words, "a massive RICO case".
There are a couple problems though. She hasn't been a prosecutor since 1988.
The other thing is all the evidence she's filed so far has been ruled to be garbage, so attaching it to a flow chart isn't going to impress anyone except the conspiracy theory crowd. I think she knows that, and this isn't really a legal angle. It's her business plan for the post-Trump years, which starts somewhere between minutes and days from now.
