What he said was not only not the right thing to say it was the wrong thing to say. It wasn't a failed attempt at saying the right thing. It was the wrong thing.

Trumps brain: the accusations are horrendous and I really hope this makes it to
trial and our legal system operates as intended.

Trumps mouth: I just wish her well, frankly. I've met her numerous times over the years — especially since I lived in Palm Beach, and I guess they lived in Palm Beach — but I wish her well, whatever it is.

Is this really what you think happened?

He feigns ignorance, acknowledges their previous relationships, and wishes her well twice.
The argument that he meant what his press sec claims he meant doesn't hold much water

You got the timing wrong.  First he wished her well, then after the media went crazy about it, he explained to his press secretary what he thought about it.

It's really nothing but TDSers try to make it a huge issue.

Can we talk about things Trump actually does bad that impact our lives rather than focus on non-issues?

Like tax cuts for the rich?

What I said is that the Covid recession is not his fault.  I agreed his response should have been a lot better.

I’m saying her answer was completely ridiculous spin and anyone with half a brain can see it. I don’t know if she discussed it with trump or not, but the cleanup job she did was obviously concocted after the fact to blunt the damage of trump wishing a child sex trafficker well.

Even the spin is absurd if you choose to believe it. He hopes she doesn’t die like the last guy being held in a prison RUN BY THE ADMINSTRATION? It’s his fucking job to keep her alive.

This administration has long surrendered any benefit of the doubt for what they say, and the fact that you endlessly scream “fake news” about the media but still think the White House is giving it to you straight just demonstrates your complete lack of judgement.

-He may have been instructed to answer that way by his cabinet or someone else for now.
-He may be trolling for attention (look how well it worked. Kind of like his "taco bowl" on Cinco De Mayo.)
-He may be terrified he's going to get caught up in something that may or may not involve his culpability directly.

Let's say for the sake of argument he genuinely wished her well.  How does that impact your life of mine (or anyone else on this board)?  Kind of a dumb thing to attack him on if you ask me.

Like, you still love them, you know they're fucked, but you can't bring yourself to like, ya know... call them a scumfuck because you knew them as a friend before you saw that side of them?

It could be that, too. Trump may not just be able to get past the idea that despite the fact she's a guilty pedophile fuck, that's not how he knew her.

Or it could be something completely different, but I thoroughly enjoy debating over it without concrete evidence! It sharpens my radar to mess around with ideas only to find out what it's actually going to be later on.
