I get that it's super frustrating watching this con man bullshit his way through the top of the charts, but don't let that frustration cloud your vision of what really is occurring.

Yes, Trump can play to role of an idiot at times and guess what?  Most of his supporters know he's purposely acting like an idiot, that's the brilliance of the whole thing.

A huge part of this whole thing is that it's extremely entertaining. Trump recognized that reality from day one and exploited it for his benefit.

I completely agree with the above. Trump is a master of persuasion and his public persona has been engineered to achieve the PR results he is after. Scott Adams who had a private meeting with Trump confirmed that he presents as a smart, witty, relaxed person with very good listening skills - this is Trump in private, with cameras off.

Think about preschool teachers. To be good at what they do they have to communicate and behave in a certain way which would pass as slightly retarded in the adult world. Simple sentences, limited vocabulary, repetitions, talking slowly, using visual analogies - this is how one effectively communicates with young children. The adult version of it is called persuasion and has a bunch of similar rules which make a person doing it look like a retard to educated, critical people.

How do I know it is so? Persuasion is supposed to produce results and Trump has been incredibly successful in achieving his goals. Turning the minds of the coast dwellers who vote 80% Democrat and also offer bad return in terms of electorate college votes is not how he decided to become a president so we have ended up with the current TV Trunp - an anti-establishment troll with strong blue collar appeal.

If still not convinced think about this. The other day he made the CNN anchors publicly, on air and talking to a captive Democrat audience fact check Trump's trolling claim that Bloomberg had asked for a box to stand on during TV debates. If you cannot see a masterclass in persuasion here you are too deeply conditioned by humourless clones like Hillary.

If reality was an entity it would likely say: you don't know that.

Besides belief may contribute to reality. If one believe X will happen that one person may contribute so X happens.

Placebo effect in studies may advance science which again may have potential to make dead people come back to life and re-enter the US.

And a giant space lobster may one day visit the Earth and give us the secret of how to extract unlimited energy from the pit of one peach.

You know someone would sell the space lobster at a Japanese seafood auction for 10 mil before it ever got the chance to share the secret of infinite peach pit energy

Although some beliefs may contribute to reality, I don't think evidence supports that.

Where I'm coming from, existentialism in philosophy, symbolic interactionism in sociology, it does. That's not to say that some things aren't objectively real and some facts are objectively true. But most of reality is a social construction.

W.I. Thomas, the University of Illinois, 1910. The Thomas theorem states, "If men believe things are real then they a real in their consequences. That's why religion is so important worldwide despite being based on completely non-rational assumptions.

Depends by whom. At present 49% think that he is doing a good job (he won in 2016 with 48% popular vote) and you can safely add 5% who don't like him but understand that any one of the Dem clowns would sink the economy. You are in a very noisy echo chamber where "Trump is an idiot" is all you can hear but don't read too much into it. On top of his persuasion game Trump has one quality everyone has noticed - he actually does what he said he would. Some voters who hate him but like his ideas may hold their noses and vote R just because they know shit will get done

I think many find Trump's outlandish foolishness endearing. He gets high marks for being “authentic” and stating his opinion with no regard to "sensitivities". Some say it's PC backlash. I've often wondered if the PC movement & SJW's are causing significant harm to the unification of our society. No matter what you think of him, his popularity is a fascinating phenomenon. I'm skeptical there's a human on the planet that can beat him at this point.

Historians are “fooled” by his “act” as well though. The fact that he’ll go down in history as a cartoon president is pretty evident.

I’m not calling MAGA ppl dumb - it’s a more diverse group that it seems - but isn’t it safe to say that the vast majority of historians aren’t on board? Just like scientists, ethics professors, etc...
