The recent Larry David interview with Chris Wallace was humorous.

It was weird Larry confessed that he thinks about Trump every day.

Most sensible people would be embarrassed to reveal that fact.

Not to sound pompous, but I think about a lot of things daily that it wouldn't mean much if the same thing resurfaced however it were to fit for any number of successive days. But I also wouldn't necessarily call myself sensible.

After the 2020 election, for a short time, many Biden supporters were happy they could stop thinking about Trump every day.  Chris Hahn, (AKA The Aggressive Progressive) was all over the news stations excited that "I'm no long obligated to think about Trump every day"  I predicted the opposite would happen, and was correct.

Anyone who knows anything about human psychology and hatred knew that would not occur.  Larry David came off as a hysterical lunatic.  He could barely speak with a normal voice, like Robert De Niro recently.  These people have lost their minds.  It's funny to see them so angry.  The sky is falling!  The sky is falling!

PS - Great to see Liz Cheney has relaunched her Jan 6th tour!

Saying crazy stuff is the hallmark of being human.  It's the 8 years of hysterical anger about Trump that impresses me most.  It's like an epic Hollywood movie (that's often highly scripted), as many people become more and more angry about this evil supervillain who will "destroy democracy".

These angry people constantly insist Trump is always in a furious rage.

It isn't just Trump. It is the entirety of what all the people he will put in power, and who already support him, will do and effect. It is similar sounding to when Crassus said he's going to give people a new Rome... a New Rome indeed... And destroyed it. The same problem that destroyed Rome is here with us. It is the problem of extremely rich people and slavery. The word 'slave' in English has been polluted. It means something much more fundamental to what most people are. It is not even necessarily bad. Slavery, however, becomes slavery when the actions are not one's own, but when one is paid for, and an instrument of someone else's actions. If, however, as the best doctors do, works on behalf of a principle... Even a doctor could be a slave. Amount of money up to millions of dollars only means so much. Billions of dollars, and hundreds of billions means something very different. The issue is, just as Bernie Sanders was saying, which was literally the entire point of Spartacus and the slave revolt... Fighting the rich ass holes that own everything and own actual people. This battle never went away. People ought to wake up and see the reality. The solution isn't necessarily a central committee and communism, but acting as if this is okay... will make history repeat itself. The problem is the fact that no single person is capable of having that much power and not severely screwing things up. It is really that simple. There should be a maximum cap on net worth far below what many people already have.

I'm sorry Enlil, I actually meant that little poetic trick as a real statement.

I'm thinking most here are familiar with the events surrounding Seneca's death. I meant that to say that Nero may have thought he was getting rid of those who plotted to kill him, including by making Seneca commit suicide, but he was to die almost the same death, in a tortuous way, only a couple years later. I meant that to say... I thought it would be clearer.

You may be able to put down philosophy, as the republicans and religious acolytes desire, but it will be the source of your demise. I mean this to say... It will be the destruction of a philosophical and historical education containing Classical ideas that leads to the downfall of people, and that means failed government, and opportunities for tyranny. My point is that Trump is a direct threat not only to democracy but the entire standard of our history, which has been bequeathed to us by those whom I cite, many in recent past but nonetheless I give recognition to those in the far past, as too few do or even consider regularly.

Quote:
The Roman historian Tacitus memorialized Seneca’s death in his historical account of those times, Annals of Imperial Rome. When Nero forbad Seneca from making a will for his extensive estate, the philosopher proclaimed his legacy would not be material things but would be the image of the life (imago vitae suae) that he had lived. Seneca espoused a virtuous way of living and a dignified way of dying. He urged others to fortify themselves with a philosophy of life. Seneca personified virtus (from Latin vir, “man,” and carrying connotations of valor, courage, and character) when faced with death. In his youth, he had struggled with suicidal ideation but realized that the effect his death would have on his family would be catastrophic and so chose to live (epigraph). In his Moral Epistles to Lucilius, Seneca writes about leaving life contentedly. He wrote that every man ought to make his life acceptable to others but that his death ought to be acceptable to himself alone. He went on to write that “the eternal law has done nothing better for us than this: it has given us one entrance to life, but many exits.”

Compare the death of Nero with the death of Seneca. It is said the look on Nero's face, dead as a doornail, was utterly horrifying.

Seneca truly has the last laugh, as with Socrates and Cicero. I'm saying the final say, here, is with philosophy and reinforcing a spirit of seeking to understand more about the world, and make the world bigger and brighter rather than constricted and contrived.

And you're blocked again.  When will you learn?
