Cortinarius smithii?
    #25850972 - 03/03/19 11:18 PM (5 years, 26 days ago)

Saw this little bunch of fungi while strolling through Golden Gate Park today. I have a hunch it might be Cortinarius smithii. Any thoughts?

I was in a bit of a hurry, spores were black.

Not Cortinarius. I'm pretty sure they are waterlogged Leratiomyces ceres.

Looks like Leratiomyces ceres witch would have a dark purple-brown spore print.

Cortinarius Sp. would have a rusty brown to brownish red spore print.

Do you have a picture of the spore print?

Unfortunately I don't. I was at a friends house and we had to leave so there wasn't any time for a proper print. What I did get was dark almost black spores.
