Where's your info sheet. if you're coming from a university to do a field survey on private property there's probably some waiver for me to sign. etc...
rare or invasive species means the govt will keep coming if you're who you say you are and you actually find them. they don't want that. as said above I would avoid mentioning they have something valuable or concerning.
be straight with people. if you can't then you are going to have bad luck and also dangerous luck

Mr Piggy said: Seeing as I was responding to OP and not you, no. She seems to be missing the point that she lied, and got caught, and that is why she got told no. Not because of a hypothetical theft-accusation scenario.
Next time don't lie. Try something honest like "I like to take pictures of mushrooms and plants and share them with other mushroom and plant photographers"
100% honest 100% harmless
Not saying you won't still get turned down by people, but it'll work better and you can feel good knowing you represented people who hunt and photograph mushrooms in a positive way.
So I found another beautiful field close to where I live and I came up with a pretty decent plan on how to get permission to go into the pasture.
I told the property owner that I was an art student and we were currently working on landscapes and I noticed how beautiful this land was. I asked if I could go and sketch the pond and trees from a couple of different angles so that I could later paint it at home. It really wouldn't be such a huge lie, I really would sketch the land and I have been an art student in the past. The property owner shrugged and said sure. I couldn't believe it! I guess I pull off art student better than biology student. It took me about 10 minutes to find a handful of cubes. Before I left I asked the owner if the pond was stocked with fish, my husband loves fishing in new places. He said we could fish there as long as we didn't leave trash. So now I have permission to enter an active field anytime I desire and my husband gets a new fishing spot. Mozel tov!

Ever think about just telling them what you're doing. Like when they spy on you one day loading a bag of cubes up.
Good luck out there avoiding shotgun wielding rednecks with white lies

right? Why keep making up stories? Just tell them straight out what you are doing. Thats how I got access from farmers here. Youd be surprised how many are actually cool with it. I even help them out feeding cows, or any other help they may need, as well as I even give them some of the gourmets I find.

In case anyone was wondering why I kept repeating not to lie.
Go ahead and keep lying about why you're on people's property. Eventually one will see what you are doing with the mushrooms and call the cops because you lied to them. Then you might get to find out how unforgiving the Texas "justice" system is. Especially considering you made an account on here with your face as your avatar and your personal e-mail for all to see in your profile.
Good luck.

She also mentioned in another thread that the guy who's property she is referring to is a sheriffs brother.

You'd be better off not creating such a hoax of a story. She called your bluff.
