Should I see condensation on the bags to indicate proper humidity?

Condensation doesn't really have much to do with humidity. A cold can of soda even in the desert will get condensation. So long as the humidity is above 0 there will be a dew point. Condensation is from temperature difference. Humidity is invisible.

Question about doing shoeboxes with these half-pint BRF spawn jars and Coir.  What ratio and amount of Coir/spawn for each shoebox?

Okay, thanks. I’m trying to figure out why I’m only getting side pins. I’m misting only the top  about twice a day. I realize it’s probably due to the shrinking of the cake creating space between the glass and the cake but if there is a way to correct it, suggestions would be much appreciated.

I wonder if filling the sides with Verm would help...curious to know as I'll be fruiting in the next few days and would like to avoid side pins.

I decided to move my cake into a tupperware container because of all the side pins. I’ve read that time from pinning to mature fruits is about 5-7 days but my pins haven’t grown much since they first appeared. I do keep getting more pins daily. If there is something I should be doing that I’m not, advice would be awesome. This is my only surviving cake and I don’t want it to go bad before the fruits mature.

same thing happened to me and i did the same thing you did except i put some wet coir at the bottom for humidity and added a VERY loose ziplock back with cuts in it for fae.

Some said the coir was unnecessary but i got a decent little flush from it and they all grew to maturity without issues.

just takes time brother and from what i’ve read as long as the pins don’t turn black they have not aborted. might be wrong but that’s what i read here.

good luck!

I am thinking about doing my next grow using this TEK, but going the bulk method and using shoeboxes.

What I'm not sure about it how many of these half-pint jars per shoebox?  My best guess is 8 half-pint jars (2 quarts) per shoebox.

Thoughts?

4 cakes would be more appropriate. Your math is correct, but they seem to fill out fine with 4. I think cakes fluff up a bit when grated while grains jars are already loose and not totally full.

This is my first grow. There were no obvious signs of contamination during colonization which I believed to be the most vulnerable period.

On Monday night 3/4/19 I birthed and washed the cakes. I noticed a small white fuzz spot on top of the Verm. I didn't think much of it, washed it and added a new layer of Verm, misted and put on a baggy.

About 2 days later I noticed the same thing on 2 fruiting jars.

They smell like mushrooms, but maybe it's too soon to tell via scent.

Also there's water accumulating on the bottom of the jars. This jar has the most water accumulation.

Am I misting too much? (1-2/day) I try to get the Verm to "glisten," but this seems build up about 1/8" water on the bottom. I read that it should be drained if the water doesn't absorb in a few days.

The mycelium seem to be changing from the water.

It's hard to tell from the pic but they don't look stringy and white anymore, but more grayish and soggy? Is this normal mycelium metamorphose?

Sorry for the newbie concerns. Thoughts or observations are appreciated!

I would skip misting a day or two.

Thanks for your input.

Any thoughts on the possible contam?
I was considering lobotomizing the top of the cake.

I meant the white fuzzy spot on top of the Verm. that's normal?

mycelium poking through, if it's contamination you'll know in a couple days or less

And 1  brf gt shoebox, cvg.

I spawned 2.5qts of BRF jars to 10qts of coir a ratio of 1:4

Do you think it's okay to put immediately into "growing conditions" with such a high ratio of substrate?

Here's the progress after 3 days of spawning:

As you can see I have quite a bit of FAE, but RH in the apartment is around 60%. I still end up misting 2-3 times a day. I lock the lid at night or if I'll be away at work.

I just don't know if I'm "fruiting" too early. But as you said in your unmodified tub tek you don't make a distinction between "colonization" and "fruiting" conditions when spawning to bulk.
