Help Identifying Mushrooms
    #25841901 - 02/27/19 05:10 PM (5 years, 1 month ago)

Hey people,

I live in San Diego and I recently made a few planter boxes for a little balcony herb garden and had some leftover garden soil, so I thought it woulud be a cool idea to make a little desktop garden in an old squarish bottle I had lying around, I got a snail, a small plant, and a few sticks and rocks and its been happily sitting on my desk as a rather moist environment with decaying plant debris from the lettuces and veggie bits I put in for the snail.

I live in San Diego and its been raining an unusually large amount recently, and today I came home from campus and found some mushrooms poking themselves out of the soil. They look similar to what I assume shrooms look like (I haven't done any before) and I was hoping someone out there could help me in identifying them. I got a book from libgen called "Psilosybin Mushrooms of the World" but I thought someone more familiar with what they look like could help me out.

Here are a few photos of the enclosure and the young mushrooms.

And of course a photo of Shel Snailverstein.

Any help in figuring out what the heck just started blooming out of my garden would be greatly appreciated.

The pictures make it quite hard to see the mushrooms clearly  enough for a proper identification.

It's likely something like Leucocoprinus birnbaumii

This is parasola species.

Edit: the last mushroom picture is something else,  but I need better pictures.

Definitely looks like some type of Parasola

According to wikipedia they have dark brown spore prints and when they reach maturity the caps turn into a dark brown ooze, and I think I see that happening, so I think its safe to say yes, this is Parasola.

Thanks for the help, its a shame my desk didn't spontaeously start popping out shrooms though. That would have been a pleasant surprise.
